What do you think about this? my sister-in-law got an invitation to a baby shower and was told to buy a cot duvet set. apparently each guest was told what gift to buy. personally I think it's rude. What does everyone else think?

hmm yeah I think thats a bit rude, at the most I would do a wish list something kind of like a wedding gift registry but not specifically tell someone waht to buy

What about if your financial situation doesn't allow to buy a cot duvet set??? Do you know how expensive those things are?!?!?

I'm with Robyn, if I was going to do anything remotely similar I'd have a gift register thingy

Yep that is very very very rude!! That is so rude. I would think that if the mum had made a list of things she still needed that they might circulate it and people could tick off what they would buy to avoid double ups rather than tell people what they were expected to buy. And I agree with Nikki - those are really expensive!!

Totally rude!!! Like others have said, sure have a wish list or let them know what you need but not tell them what to buy!!! Especially with such expensive items!

I'm with everyone else - that's really rude! If you are after specific things then either create a gift registery (Baby City does them!) or a wish-list type of thing... or do what I'm going to and ask for gift vouchers so you can combine them for the more expensive things!

Yeah thats so rude! The gift vouchers are a great idea, and so is having a wish list/gift registry. If she wanted a whole cot set, she could list each item, so that people could buy as much or as little of it as they chose, and she could still end up with a matching set!

Yap rude....very rude!!

I got what I got and had loads of dauble ups when Zaara had her Hair cutting ceremony.....I didnt care. Its only close people who asked what I need and I told them and if they thought they could afford it they bought it for me. However my MIL bought us a pram, BIL bought us a changing table, work mates baught us a bassinette etc etc.
