This may sound stupid but do baby bones click? I have only felt it heard it twice now and it is like a bone clicking in my tummy.

Is this possible or is there some other reason my insides are clicking.

very occassionally I hear a "click" too (but only in the last month). I'm going to ask my midwife about it next week, I'm hoping it's not the condition "clicky hip"

Oh i never thought about that. I did wonder if the babys bones are strong/developed enough to click just yet.

Awww my MW is such a sweetie!

She just called me to have a chat about the clicking noises. She said she doubts very much that we would be hearing any joints click through the uterus and our bellies and that it was probably OUR ribs or cartildge that have been softened during pregnancy and maybe bubs is pushing up against them getting them to "click". I've had imflamed rib cartildge throughout my whole pregnancy (on both sides now) so that makes sense for me, but everyone is different.

Also - bit of info re. clicky hip. Most common in breech babies and you still can't tell until the baby is born as is having it's first assessments.

Hope that helps Linelle

I've heard of cases of clicky hip being diagnosed even after being tested at birth and being told the hips are fine. Hubbys cousins daughter wasn't diagnosed with it until she was almost a year and has recently had an operation, and our antenatal group coordinator has a young son (less than a year old) who has to have an op to correct it too.

On another note though, every time my own hip clicks, poor bubs gets a huge fright and jumps!

jack was born with clicky hips. one was dislocated and the other was unstable. he was a breech bub and very common with them but more so in girls than boys.
he was in a pavlik harness for his first 10wks, which looking back, really wasn't a problem.
if your bubs is breech, the docs should check their hips the day after they are born, but another sign once they are older is uneven crease lines in the hip/leg join..hehe hope that last bit makes sense
