Topic: Hair dye question Posted: 07 November 2009 at 11:08am |
I dyed my hair a while back with Swarzkopf color (permanent) and it doesn't seem to stick. It doesn't all come out but fades way to much for my liking. Anyone know why that would be? I have been through 3 cycles of redying and they have all done the same thing. If it is just a crap brand then can someone recommend one to me as I would love to have the color hair I want for 2 weddings at the end of the year and don't wanna have to redye inbetween. Thanks heaps

I love Swarzkopf but I find as my hair grows the colour fades out all over. A hairdresser friend said it'll always fade abit as theexcess dye washes out.
HTH but probably not and no other recommendations from me sorry I still use Swarzkopf only.

Was your hair lightened before?? If so you'll probably need to put a semi-permanent colour through your hair first, and then a day or so later the permanent dye. When you lighten your hair you're removing pigment from the strands, so when you try and dye it, the dye has no pigments to hold on to, using a semi perm adds pigment to your hair.........I was told this but maybe google it?

Apparently there is also something about the shampoo if it has silicone in it, so things like Tre Semme and pantene don't let the colour hold to your hair as there is a layer over your hair of silicone iygwim

thanks guys.. hair was natural colour when I dyed first time (going from brown to black) and I ended up buying shampoo and conditioner in same brand as dye. Dunno what to do but will be dying again for weddings anyway as colour it is now is not the nicest.

Oooh I was outside and had a look at the ends of my hair and its a definite black still so what I reckon is it just looks faded coz of the beginning of regrowth?! Hmmm dunno...

Wash your hair with baby shampoo (no conditioner) and let it fully dry before you dye your hair.
After you've dyed your hair - make sure you shampoo your hair as little as possible - once or twice a week. You can rinse your hair daily if needed, but shampooing less and a good conditioning treatment (at home) once a week goes a long way to keeping your colour nice.

I usually use Garniea Nutriesse & never have a problem with fade or at least it's not noticeable. I used swartzkoft last time & with the first wash I noticed it faded. I reckon it's sucky. GN is much nicer to put in & leaves your hair much softer.

I've used Clairol Nice & Easy since I can remember. I started going grey quite early too and found that was the best brand for me, usually cheaper than others too. Tried Garnier once or twice and found that one to be good as well.
