Jack was in NB for up to 3 months I think, he was really long but skinny. The best thing I found for him was two piece suits due to his length. Otherwise things that fit him lengthwise were swimming on him width-wise.
I would just buy the standard few NB and 000 and then go shopping after bubs is born. I wish I'd done that as most of Jack's clothes now don't fit him as he's just too long but they're so wide they look ridiculous.
I found I didnt have enough NB size's, caden was 9lb 8oz when born and NB stuff is still a wee bit big on him.
I find I use heaps of singlets, onsies(with long sleeves), stretc n grows with and without feet, woolen long sleeve tops for under his clothes.
I went to TnT and got him a heap of new winter clothes, all NB size and they will probably fit him for quite a while yet.
Went to baby factory yesterday to stock up on a few other things while they have their sale on, but it's so hard to find things in NB sizes!! especially socks!?!
still, got another onesie and a couple more merino tops so hopefully that plus what we've got will at least see us through the first week and anything else I'll get Mum to pick up when she comes to visit!
