A couple of ladies from coffee group are nearly due with baby #2, their #1 babies are about 17 months old. I want to get them a little something but I have no idea what, cos they'll have everything from baby #1. Also neither of them know if they're having a boy or a girl, so can't really get a cute little outfit!

Any ideas??

One of the ladies from my coffee group brought us round dinner one night when Kyle was a couple of weeks old, that was very much appreciated.
You could get stuff they might have run out of, like baby bath, moisturiser, massage lotion etc.
Or maybe a pair of white booties or something newborn and wintery as their #1 would have been summer babies.

That's a great idea about something wintery, I hadn't thought of the difference between summer and winter babies.

Oh yeah meant to say I'm also planning on taking round a meal after the baby is born (my friend's coffee group put on a 'baby shower' for her where everyone just brought a homemade frozen meal for her freezer, I thought it was a brilliant idea!)

Yep after having a summer baby, Elias basically needed everything lol.

Booties and Beanies are great .. as are mittens! Also singlet all in ones (singlets with domes, im not sure the technical name) are great as winter babies need that extra layer.

I just call them singlet onsies Julia hehe

I agree with Julia though, some wintery things would probably be the way to go, there are some lovely unisex outfits at the moment.
Or maybe a baby book for the new bubs..or some of that clay you can take an imprint of babys feet(Ive seen it at the warehouse for a great price!).

One of the mums in my coffee group has just had her second (the first of us to do so). As a group, we all put in a bit of money and bought a couple of merino outfits from Nature Baby. Not sure if your group would be up for something like that?

Otherwise definitely agree on the freezer meal and maybe a cute beanie / wrap or something warm.

If you could all contribute a bit then you could get attachments for prams or just give a voucher to go towards another carseat or something.

Otherwise I think a little outfit (unisex) is a good idea. God knows I haven't got a thing for this baby.

One of the girls in my CG is just about to have her second and because her first was a summer baby and she's a knitter I got some wool and a baby jumper pattern.

Oh and I thought it was cool that some people bought Elias his own soft toys, that way he has a few things that are ALL HIS OWN, not handed down from Isabelle.

(Yep im a sentimental old fool)

The most useful and appreciated things I got after I had lil miss were definitely meals - Simsam left dinner on my doorstep out of the blue one night and I'd had a particularly difficult day and it was honestly a Godsend.

And I also agree re: soft toys like lilfatty mentioned, she has about 1/2 dozen on her bookcase in her room that are special ones that were given to her as opposed to the hundreds that the older three have amassed.

I agree- practical stuff. My cousin just had her second boy and it was the same time of year as her first, we just bought them a box of nappies/wipes etc, and some new world vouchers.

Otherwise books are always a good unisex, any time of year option.

Thanks all - I ended up finding a really cute little long sleeved top thing (unisex but so cute) and some little booties (white with a little green star on them).

It was for tonight -- made the mad dash to Botany at 4.30pm with a grumpy toddler who wanted to run everywhere he wasn't allowed!!

This is too late now, and I haven't read all the posts, so might be a double up, but something for #2's bedroom is a good idea (bookends, decorations lightshade, floor mat etc,...)
