Nah I doubt it. We are a consumer driven society
I actually miss the days where things were only open till 12 on a Saturday and nothing was open on a Sunday

I just hope that Starbucks isn't going to put a stupid surcharge on my coffee this morning

gasp i was like that too! then i moved to a small town where things do that exactly on the weekend. Its nothing but annoying now :P

That whole surcharge thing is silly!! Boxing day i went to the hairdresser and there was a 10% surcharge on that too!!

It's not just the govt - anyone working today gets paid time and a half and a day in leau (I think ) so the retailers pass on the costs to consumers this way.
Anyways, most shops at least in Akl are open

i hope the supermarket is open!!! otherwise we might have to go to hamilton to go shopping as we really need some food and i have trouble carrying the bags all by my self and its dfs last day of his holiday

Shops are only required to shut on xmas day, Good friday and Anzac day morning.
