Has anyone done these? Do you think it's worth it? I am a terrible saver and am looking at doing one for myself so I have some money put away (even though you can only spend it in the stores associated with it) Any input is much appreciated

Personally I would prefer to put the $ into a savings account that earns interest that you can't touch until closer to xmas, that way you're not restricted to where you can spend the money.

Bonus bonds is a really good way, I hear they charge an extra fee on Hampsta. With Bonus Bonds you can set up a direct debit I'm pretty sure and it takes at least 3 days to get them after you apply to get them out so no impulse buying! I find them great for these reasons plus you go into the draw to win more money each month! Win win, cause there is also no fees or anything with them

Bank account with interest, may as well make a bit of interest off your savings instead of someone else doing it.

Just get an account with restrictions that won't tempt you to use the money.

Willie has a Hampsta card, and it was great - he mostly used his at Mad Butcher for meat etc. and Postie Plus and Toyworld for stuff for the kids. He's putting in again this year, and hopefully there will be even more retailers involved next year.

Exactly! These types of things are just gimmicks, what's wrong with an old fashioned bank account?
