I know what you mean, I hate doing tests (hence I still haven't sat my full licence) but if your instructor is confident that you're ready then I'm sure you'll do well.  The tester I had when I sat my restricted licence was lovely and he chatted to me and made me feel completely at ease.  I think they're very used to having nervous drivers.

ETA: Good luck!

he he i was as bad but went and got mine about 1 year ago after 8 years LOL

just watch you speed, check your mirorrs every 15 - 20 seconds... all three of them...

i thought it was going to be really hard - why i took 8 years to do it.. but pretty easy you will be sweet

Also book in for about 11am in the day - no traffic around, dont do in peak hour

Good luck

for you full you dont do anything like that..

all you do is drive, no parking etc

you drive in built up area like 50 zone the open area like 100k zone and then on a motorway aswell

i passed the first two bits so dont need to go to the motorway...

I had to do a three-point turn for mine, and while I am generaly pretty good, i completely stuffed it up for the test. And while I failed that, I still passed overall.

I was useless, I estalled, dida U turn without indicating at all and still got my restricted so try not to stress too much. Its more about you being a safe driver and knowing the rules than being this amazing driver, restricted is still a licence for learning. As long as your careful of your speed, check your mirrors and every street you go past you will be fine.

Good luck chonni and James

I failed the first time I sat my full.

Instructor said I drove too fast, nearly hit a motor cyclist and ran a stop sign. It was a give way sign i'm telling you!!!

Anyway, I re-sat it and that time I told my self to relax and take things slowly and not to freak out like I did the first time. I'm sure you will do just fine but sometimes our nerves get the better of us. E.g. they say turn right and you turn left lol. It's not uncommon to fail first time round so don't beat yourself up if you don't do a perfect job. Alot of it really comes down the instructor. I think mine stepped straight out of a Terminator movie. The second lady was lovely and she didn't seem to mind that a drove like a hoolagan.

I'm sure you will fly through it.

You aren't allowed to wear sunnies as the tester needs to be able to see you are checking your mirrors so if you are sensitive to the sun like me then might pay to do a few practice runs with no sunnies on.

I did mine two months ago and it was nowhere near as hard as I thought it would be. I didn't drive particularly well IMHO - very jerky because of nerves and I think I indicated when I didn't need to a few times. But the tester was ok with it.

Oh and don't forget to put your handbrake on at the end - 'cause you feel like a right doofus otherwise

Good luck! I'm sure you'll do fine. The tester wouldn't tell you that you were ready if you're not.

Also check your car before you go - I had a break light out and had to rebook (and pay again), PITA.

So the morning of the rebooking I checked the break light and it was broken again! Had to sit the test in MIL's car which I had never driven before lol

ETA good luck!!

Definitely avoid peak hour traffic

I passed my restricted the first time but failed my full in the first 5 minutes when I had had my restricted for 7 years! Just a silly mistake as I was nervous! When I sat it the second time, the instructor said you're nervous aren't you - there is nothing to be nervous about, just drive like I'm not here. Easy for him to say! But after he said that, I really did relax and he passed me after 15 minutes when the test is up to an hour!

When I sat my restricted I had to do a reverse around a corner - no parallel parking. When I did my full there was just driving and one 3 point turn.

I did my restricted at 8 months pregnant!!! I kinda wonder if I was just given my licence as I was so far pregnant. It was a standard test that the instructor had taken me on a few times.

The full test is harder as you have to do so much and some instructors are arses (I think Dana me and you got the same arse).

I was a puree feeder, forward facing, cot sleeping, pram pushing kind of Mum... and my kids survived!

Restricted was EASY.
Tips: When you check your mirrors, actually turn your head to make sure the tester can see you're doing it. Do it at least every minute or more.
When you're pulling out, make sure you turn and check over your shoulder as well as your mirrors.
Keep your speed at the speed limit - if you're unsure, check with your tester. You'll do things like hill starts, reversing around a corner, parallel parking etc. When you do the park, drive around until you find one with lots of room. Dont let the tester pressure you into doing one that hasnt got much space.
Also, fob your child off to someone for the duration of the test - makes it easier to concentrate!!!
Get your insructor to take you thru what they'll actually do on the test as well so you get it perfect :D

Becks, my best friend did her test at 8mths and they failed her as she was unable to turn around properly to look behind her! Apparently they're really anal about that sort of thing, so you must have actually passed due to doing really well!
