I was so pleased that the right verdicts were returned in the Nia Glassie case.
But I am confused... her mum got convicted of TWO counts of manslaughter. How can you get convicted of two counts when there is only one person who has died?
Not 100% certain how it works but I was told one charge was for not seeking medical attention which resulted in Nia's death and the other was for not providing a safe, healthy environment for her, which ultimately resulted in Nia's death.
1 was for failing to ensure that nia was cared for correctly whilst in the care of others
and the other was for failing to seek medical attention and take her to hospital when she was unresponsive.
2 counts because both those reasons could have saved her daughters life if she had done something.
