I'm about 4 blocks back from the beach in Auckland and all good so far here. It's expected to only be 1m high plus it's hitting at low tide.

I have a CD kit all sorted anyway but I think if there were a threat CD would have come knocking by now since it's due in an hour.

Radio just said they've put warnings back an hour cause the tsunami warning centre didn't take daylight savings into account

Well that was a bit of a non event. Horrible about the deaths in Samoa though. I have a friend who's parents live in Samoa and she can't get in touch with them.

DP's sister is in Samoa and they live right on the water, don't think they have heard from her yet. The lines are jammed because everyones trying to get through. His Nana and aunties and uncles are further in land and on the other coast to the earthquake so will be ok.

Still freaking out a bit though!

Oh and what are the chances that the one Wed morning he goes to work (he normally works nights)on the Viaduct harbour there is a tsunami warning grrr meh he's ok they didn't get anything

Tsunamis scare the living sh*t out of me I live in Brooklands which is right by the beach too so I put the kids in the car and parked on the top of the Palms eating BK lol I couldn't think of anywhere else to go.

That is so sad about Samoa, it would be such a horrible thing to go through. Hope you hear from your SIL soon Elle.
