Topic: nose bleeds Posted: 09 November 2007 at 7:52am |
taine has been having nose bleeds - we've had three so far. DH took him to the doctor yesterday as he had a cold and was getting chesty. she said he had a minor ear infection but not to worry about the nose bleeds as "noses take a bump and often are very sensitive for several days" - now the first bleed was possibly a bump, but the other two he was just standing there and it started bleeding. That doesn't sound normal to me at all. My mother gets a lot of nose bleeds, especialy when she has a cold, but I've never herad of it in a one year old. Anyone else?

Jack randomly got a nose bleed the other day when he was crying. I went out to get Caprece from the car and when I came back there was blood all over his face. I got one random nosebleed when I was about 16 and it hosed out for about 5 hours (not bleeding but every time I would take the tissue away it would start again) and it was horrible.
I think some people just get them more than others.

I used to get them all the time, and often wake in the morning to discover it has bled in the night as well. A small knock and it sets it off, and not always straight away (OK am I weird). Just follow the standard first aide treatment for it, and if it is happening a lot they can corderise (sp) the blood vessels to stop it.

DH gets nosebleeds fairly often as he has a blood vessel really close to the skin. He had it cauterised when he was younger, which did help for a while at least. His seem to be brought on by blowing his nose.
I'd definitely go back to the doc if you are still concerned.

Hey Xanda had nose bleeds the other day, with an ear infection, and it turned out he had a bacterial infection up his nose as well, so if you not happy take him back to doctor and ask, especially if it keeps happening.

My girls still have nose bleeds all the time and have since they were little. Natasha's are the best sometimes the blood even comes out of her tear bucks. So she looks like her eyes are bleeding. It was bloody scary (excuse the pun) when it first happened. But we are used to it now...freaks people out when it happens in public though
