Just a wee question for a friend. Does anyone know how much the food costs on Jenny Craig per week?

From what I've heard, $80-$120. Sounds about right to me as once upon a time when I went in for a consult I'm sure they quoted me about the same. Too expensive for us, but I'm sure it works well for others.

I did it years ago and it worked out about $120 per week for the fully provided meals i.e. frozen dinners(breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks). There was another option which was cheaper which involved you still cooking parts of your meal like veges though..

Yeah it's about $120 or so a week and then you have to buy your own fruit and vege which adds about another $40/week.

It all depends on which menu you get as well. I love the food - did it back when I was 16 and ginormous, lost a good 30kg on it :D
I'd certainly check out other options before going for this tho - think about the cost per week and how long it would take you to lose the weight you want, then go see sureslim. They have finance and its only one cost and your own food. Much more economical imo.

WW is better (IMO), you pay $18 a week (which can be cheaper if you buy in advance) and you buy your own food, so you can choose what you eat. It also isn't as strict as the others as you get to make your food choices which is better as you learn as you go, wereas the others have meal plans set for you, and coming of those to "normal" foods can be hard.

i wonder with jenny craig though....it's not really teaching you how to cook healthy for yourself...so what happens when you stop eating the meals they provide? does the weight come back or is it easy to maintain?
that's why i like WW better, because you are learning which foods are better for you and how to prepare them etc

They give you all sorts of recipes and cookbooks etc, but dont really teach you healthy eating habits. I found WW a bit confusing with the calorie counting

Yeah, I think WW does teach you quite good eating habits if you follow it.
As for sureslim, someone on it told me they hated it, felt like all they were eating was salad and nuts!

What they do is start you off on all their food and then you ease back gradually supplementing your own meals as well until eventually you plan all your own meals.
They work on portions rather than points - so you get x amount of fruit a day and y amount of protein etc.
You do actually learn how to do the healthy eating for yourself and you get to the point where you can figure stuff out as you go about your day which makes it easy to keep it off (well until you have a baby and then end up 10kg overweight )
Anyway not saying it's better or worse than SS or WW but just answering the question above

I am a JC graduate and ex-consultant and Bobbie is spot on, yes you start off on their food and then around your half way mark you do two days your own food which they teach you how to manage based on portions of protein, fats, carbs etc and 5 days of their food. Once you are at goal weight you will be managing 100% on your own food following that same system.
Its pricey but its a great program for people who need support and the strictness that comes with a planned menu, I've tried WW over the years and I'm so crap I'm one of those people who will eat half the pizza and try to justify it with points etc which isnt really acheiving much lol.
