6 members of my family have been diagnosed (only 8 have been tested) we suspect it might be carried on by both my parents sides of the family (and possibly both mums parents sides too) since you are supposed to only have a 10% chance of having it if another family member has it.

Apparently it's prevalent in those with celtic ancestory so it may be because many NZers are from celtic bloodlines.
