Topic: Disappointed! Posted: 11 July 2008 at 2:16pm |
I'm feeling really disappointed in a couple of friends today.
Jett had to go back to waikato hospital yesterday for surgery on his peri-anal abscess. It was going to be an overnight stay, but we were allowed to go home late evening. I had texts beginning Wednesday of support, from immediate family, a few friends and even a chick from my ante-natal group from when I was pg with Rico!! And of course from the lovely ladies in the July/August 07 thread. They were coming in all yesterday & this morning as well.
But I've had no word from who I thought were my closest 2 friends. No text, phonecall, email, or comment on my bebo page. Nothing, zilch. I'm really angry at them, and feel like texting them & saying "Yeah Jett's fine after his surgery, thanks for asking". Sarcastic & petty maybe, but that's how it's made me feel.
They both knew Jett was going in, so no excuse there, that they didn't know about it.
If that was one of my friends/relatives, I would've been in contact all along, & given them plenty of support. So I'm feeling really let down by them.
Grrrrrrr!!!!!!

That sucks, glad that Jett is recovering well. I probably would have sent the sarky text, might give them a kick up the bum and get them thinking about things.

Thanks CT. Yeah Jett's been great through it all. That makes it easier on me, seeing him going through it all. I've only been under G.A. once and never want to go through that again, but poor Jett's been under 3 times! So it's been a bit rough on him. Hopefully the abscess is all sorted now though.

Aww hun that sux, I think times like these you do learn who are your true friends and those who are 'good weather' friends. Doesn't make you feel any better about it though!
I hope Jett is well on the road to recovery

Aww hun
Just goes to show you don't need to KNOW the person for them to care, because obviously alot of people on OhBaby really care about you and your family Italiah and very few of us have actually met IRL
Glad to hear all went well with the surgery, and I pray it's the last one for a while... poor little guy!!!

That's pretty bad.
Have you been in touch with them at all? Maybe they've got something going on, family dramas or something?
Not trying to make light of them being slack or anything, just thinking maybe there is a good reason you haven't heard from them. I hope you can sort things out with them, either way!
Glad Jett is doing well, and fingers crossed he won't need any more surgeries! Must be so hard for you to see him going through that.

Glad to hear Jett is recovering ok.
Just out of curiosity, do your friends have kids themselves? I only ask because a girl at my work (who has no kids) was complaining to me about a friend of hers who is pregnant. The way she was talking made me realise how women without kids look at situations quite differently. In fact, even I remember not realising how precious children are until I had one of my own..

One of them, the one I thought I would've more likely heard from, has been a bit slack for a few weeks, and when I have seen her and asked why I never hear from her, she says she's just busy (pathetic really, as normally I'm always the one who she's "busy" with). But I still thought I would've had some communication from her this week. The other one I just spoke to on tuesday (well emailed) and told her about the surgery, and she still hasn't replied, with any support, so that's annoyed me as well.

Yeah one of them doesn't have kids (the one I'm closest to, and really adores my kids and used to like having Gia stay over the night, and always made a beeline for Jett), the other one has a 2 yrs old, and 38 weeks pg with #2.

Sorry to hear that your IRL friends have let you down....but am so glad to hear that little Jett is doing well after his surgery. It must be so hard to see them in situations like that and prob harder for mummy than for bubs.
Big hugs - glad your OB friends were able to offer support!

Good to hear Jett is pulling through ok - hope he stays well now
Not that I can compare to your problem Anoushka but I've found my pre-baby friends have all but vanished off the face of the earth (one even has 3 kids!)
I've been really lucky and have made some of the best friends I have ever had on here
