I agree - we all owe it to ourselves to be as informed as possible and part of that is looking at all viewpoints which often comes from discussion.

We would actually be worse off in Oz because we couldnt get any money for our special needs daughter we would have to wait two years living there before she actually was able to get any sort of benefit

That is you who would be worse of over there. I know for sure we are better off there as I am from Oz. But we are not going as we both have stable jobs here in NZ that we should lose in the recession.

I think we would be worse off- daycare is incredibly expensive. my SIL pays over $250 a week for her son in part-time care. Housing is a lot more. of course this is sydney, but teaching wages aren't significantly better.
and thats just financially. socially, I just don't think australia is as good for our family. For a start, my family is here and we just COULDN"T do without them!

DH would have to retrain for 1 year to do the same job he does here, in Oz. Also he likes tramping and the bush, which Aussie doesn't have the same as us.
The 60 minutes program was interesting. It was about Aussies coming here.

I just have no interest in Aussie. I only know 1 person over there, all the rest of my friends and family live in the N.I. of N.Z. The money side of things is not a big enough motivator on it's own.

why would ex New Zealanders living in Australia also vote for National as did Caitlyns dad and his wife and they were actually hoping National would get in without needing ACT or United Future I wonder??
They obvviously didnt like New Zealand under Labour either |
grumble grumble and slightly off topic (ok very off topic) are they planning on coming back at some stage so he can see his daughter are they ?

So totally right Kelly who really cares who someone not on this forum voted for.
And they could of voted so long as they were still NZ citizens.
