Mine goes away at least once a month. He's the union rep and they are in negotiations at the moment which has to be done in Wellington.
He also goes to Wellington fior his work as his boss is based there so they have get togethers sometimes. He loves it because he gets to go to the koru lounge (he's a member) and drink for free !!!!
I don't mind him being away it's the coming home pissed which gets on my nerves........he snores really loud!!

Emz we are getting (I like that WE are - we get the money ) a pay rise in 4 days. I know its not much but for us it is quite a bit, but I spose different pays lines do make a different.
I know I am looking forward to Nigel going overseas for us to get some extra money.

My DH was in the Army as well, but thankfully is out now. So know the feeling of being away for long periods and being bombed and shot at .
With the job he has now he's only away for 3 nights in every month which is much more bearable. Still miss him when he's away though.
Becks how long has your Dh been based at Waiouru?

My DH is a deep sea fisherman so he has a 6 weeks on, 6 weeks off schedule. He just left yesterday to go out to sea. We're planning on having a baby next year so I hope I'll be able to cope when he's away as my family are in another city

My DH never goes away. Which is good, as I dont really have any friends here in NZ and my family are all in OZ so I would get super lonely all by myself.
I am an army brat, I couldnt be with a military man. I have a lot of respect for you ladies who are.

My DH goes away every few months. I love it. I love my space, and time with Joshua just doing our own thing.
And I love being able to starfish on the bed and not feel guilty!
I don't think I'd love it quite so much if it happened more regularly though.

In our house I'm the one who goes away; 3 weeks at a time, about every 3 months.
DH loves it, lives like a pig in muck - eats rubbish (pizza, spag on toast) and wallows in in mess til the day before I get home. He also gets flown up to see me in the weekend sometimes so HE thinks this is a great perk of the job. I, however, miss him (and the fur babies) like mad.
I have learnt NOT to come home early tho'...as I got to see how messy it is before he freaks out about my impending arrival
This of course will all change once we stop TTC and actually become parents!

My DH comes home today after being away for 10days. He travels from Kaikoura south as a rep so is away for a week at a time usually about every couple of weeks.
My 2 year old is very challenging at the moment and waking early (5amish) and I find the tiredness the hardest. Yesterday I was up at 4.20am feeding Harry, Charlotte woke at 4.45am and I spent the next hour putting her back to bed then gave up. So it was a very long day. My MIL took her for the night so I got a sleep in this morning.
I have so much respect for single mums/dads and those of you whose husbands/partners are away for long periods of time. I struggle with 5 days sometimes!

I take my hat off to you all...!
I have the inlaws helping tonight, and my mum is coming to stay tomorrow night, so no reason to complain!

Often, but not at predictable times (for the most part anyway).
Quite often for a week or two throughout the year, occasionally for months at a time. Longest has been 10 months, which was only a few weeks after our son was born.
I've mostly gotten used to it, it's just a part of our life now...but I can't lie, because I do struggle with it every so often.
I'm another military wife, by the way.

My DH has stayed out of town for a couple of days at a time, maybe once or twice a year, so i can't complain too much. I find the first night is fine, then the subsequent nights I hate it and miss him terribly! I could not handle weeks or months at a time, that's for sure.
