QuoteReplyTopic: mLs per feed at 3 months Posted: 11 July 2006 at 11:06am
Heya,
A friend is starting back at work for a couple of hours at day and her babe will be around 3 months by then.
She's wondering how much she should be expressing per feed.
Katie is pretty small (6lbs when born) though she's been growing pretty quickly (3lbs in 2 weeks). So she either drinks a lot or Rach has super-milk.
I suggested between 150-200mLs per feed... does this sound right? (I said I'd check on here and confirm )
Back when Quinn was a wee bub and actually took a bottle (before he wised up!) I would express a small bottle full which was about 130ml. He probably could have done with a wee bit more cause he was usually looking around for a bit extra.
nikki... thats all bailey is having/wanting now!
id say 100 - 150 mls, however if is she unsure she could express more to be on the safe side.. eg/ an extra 50 mls to the side so then if bubs doesnt want it, it could be used next feed and not wasted
Really depends on the bubba. I gave Blaire his first ever bottle tonight (just to see if he would take it) and he took 150ml & then went looking for more and he isn't quite 6 weeks old yet.
Mum to Alex (11), Blaire (10) & Erika (8) and Damien (6)
Yeah, I did want to estimate on the high side so that she wasn't left short. But at the same time, I suppose she'll figure it out soon enough. Especially if she does trial runs before she actually goes to work.
Cheers for your input ladies
I read somewhere around 150mls per kg a day and then divide that bout amount of feeds a day. But if shes still breast feeding at night it might be a bit hard to work out.
