An ergo is a soft structured carrier that you can wear on your front or back (or hip) .. Elias 's it.

He is too long for a sling but not big enough to sit up in one so Ive put mine to the side till he is bigger. I still carry Issy in the sling when we are out at the mall or something and she doesnt want to walk.
Mummy to Issy (3) and Elias (18 months)

I wanted a moby but they were so expensive - so I went to Geoff's emporium, bought 5m of t-shirt material, cut it in half as it was about 1m+ wide & folded it in half (width-wise so it was about 30cm wide with two layers - does that make sense?) - actually got 2 wraps out of it for $15 as the material was only $3 a metre.

Then I jumped on moby website, and looked up wrap instructions and downloaded the pdf. Practiced at home. Now I just tie it before I leave home, and can pop in and out of the car easy!

Trimmed the end as it stretched leaving enough to make it bigger as he gets bigger. Amazing what you can do with 5m x 70cm of material!

I have to second the recommendation of checking out the Slingbabies website, the link is here:

Slingbabies

I will confess I am a bit of a babywearing nut, but of all seven slings I have my favorite at the moment is a mei tai (mine is a Kozy Carrier), quick to put on and easy to use when I'm on my own (which is most of the time). I do like my woven wrap, and am still to try my Moby but will get there eventually!

I prefer baby to be a bit older for a pouch sling but some find them perfect for smaller babies, each person and baby are different.

Edited to add: Comfort wise the mei tai holds up really well, the Kozy has nicely padded straps, and my Tiny Girl is in there an average of six hours a day (asleep). Definitely easier for us than using the buggy!

I've had so many slings, front packs etc and the only one I will ever bother with again is my hugabub (think moby is the same) so easy to wear and put on. No pressure points to create sore spots and it is completely hands free, keeps them right next to your heart too which bub absolutely loves. Plus it goes from newborn to toddler (if you really want to haul a toddler round!).

I love my Moby! I received one as a gift and I am so incredibly grateful for it! I also have a dolce and zoet sling which I think will be good for quick trips when he's a bit older but he felt really awkward in it when he was little. Wasn't long before he hated being horizontal in it as well as he couldn't see in it.
The moby is so comfy though and he's really content in it. Often falls asleep and I find it really easy to put on once you get the hang of it. I usually tie it before I leave home too, learned after tying it in the carpark a few times where it was a bit awkward and dirty! I use it all the time, used it today to go grocery shopping. Find it great in malls as well where it's difficult to get a bulky pram in and out. They're around $70-80 I think for the merino ones, or you can apparently make them yourself much cheaper.

Good luck with your decision, I ummed and ahhed over this for ages while pregnant and eventually made the wrong decision for me....oops! I wasn't to know
