Topic: Cold Case last night Posted: 29 May 2008 at 10:32am |
Man, that hit close to home
Anyone else watch it? I was howling my eyes out at the end, esp when they played the Nickelback song....
It got me thinking tho, what gives any of us the right to decide we are better parents than anyone else? That poor lady was trying so hard to stay clean and be a good mother, OK so she was broke and they didn't have much, but he was loved and isn't that the important thing? And were the couple who kidnapped him *really* better parents just coz they lived in a big house and could buy him expensive toys?

oh man ! i missed Cold Case! i love love love that programme, will have to see if that episode is one of the ones DP downloaded.
Emma, have you seen the episode in the first season "fly away" to this day i cant hear the instrumental version of "heaven" without picturing the mother jumping out the window with her little girl , (theres a big reason behind it but...) oh my , so sad.
I think if the boy was cared for well , and loved thats all that should matter, and a couple that kidnaps isnt so great already.
Except in the case of the movie "gone baby gone" which none of you need to see , but has similar scenario, except she would be better off with the kidnappers, but none of you, if you havent already , need to see it,cos its not very nice ( bluntly , they show a dead 7 year old in the bath ) and besides its long.

Nope, I don't think I've seen that one? I can vividly remember the one about the guy on death row who died pleading his innocence and they found out a few hours too late that he didn't do it. They played Hallelujah, it still makes me cry thinking about it coz it was soooo sad.

I sat there sobbing my little heart out!
Totally random and OT but was the girl who played the mother, Maggie from The Nanny?

Yes saw it...really like the programme. I was watching on Crime Investigation about a story where a mother thought she has lost her newborn baby in a fire. She was adamant that the baby didn't die but had no proof other than her mothers intuition. A couple of years later at a family get together she saw a lady there with a child who she was sure was her, but didn't know how to prove it. They eventually did a DNA test and found that it was her baby. The lady who stole the baby set it all up to make it look like a baby had died as she wanted to steal the child (she couldn't have anymore). Amazing story, go mothers intuition.
I found that the Cold Case story was sort of similar to this one

I don't usually watch the show but saw the last scene with the girl who used to play the eldest daughter on the nanny.. That song always gets me..
That I love yooooou
I have loved you all along
And I miss yooooou
Been far away for far too long
I keep dreaming you'll be with me
and you'll never go
Stop breathing if
I don't see you anymoooooooooooore!

I just watched it about 30min ago. It was sooo sad. She was trying soo hard and was doing well. That couple should b locked up for life! You could see the guilt in the woman when she unwrapped him and he had 'my mummy loves me' on his top!

It was certainly moving. The end with her holding out the flower to little boy.... bawled.
I have to say, as soon as they realised her kid wasnt the one that died in the fire, I guessed right off the social worker took him. Her story made me bawl too....
Desperate women huh!

at the risk of ruining the episode for anyone that might be downloading it etc....did the little boy die??
oh , did anyone see the one with the "hunter" who would read the police reports of people that had somehow survived an attack , and would abduct them take them to some big forest and make them run in barefeet for hours while he chased them (their feet were all broken etc) and then he shot them and cut off their heads? and Lily etc KNEW who the guy was but didn't have enough evidence to charge him and he knew that and the episode ended without any closure ...i was SOOO p*ssed off .
Then ! 3 episodes later they found the heads, and they finished that storyline off , (man was his mother a freak " dont rape me, rape my son"....right!) , in the end Lily shot him. Was kinda scary actually .....

oh you mean you saw it?? the first one had the lady who was in the shop with her daughter at the start and when they showed a flashback at the end just before he shot her , she closes her eyes and whispers "I love you little girl " ...cried for about half an hour.
Was really glad they ended it , though the end was blimming sad too (like the whole series really !)

I watched it and bawled my eyes out too. The parents were so out of line trying to convince her to put him up for adoption when she came to them for help. They could have taken him in themselves if they felt she wasn't managing while she sorted herself out. The cops pointed out to the social worker and her husband that they must've seen how loved he was because of how his cot/room was decorated and even his shirt had 'my mommy loves me' on it. The clip of them kidnapping him showed them looking clearly doubting whether they'd made the right decision.
And yes, I agree Emma, its about loving your child and doing the best you can with what you have rather than giving them 'the best' of everything (materially).
