I see that the melbourne cup is on today. just wondering if anyone here gets into this or not.
I was thinking of putting on a bet but don't want to waste my money lol.
Why is it that just because something only happens once a year it makes you more inclined to spend money on it.

We have a sweepstake at work and if I get a chance at lunchtime I might go out and have a bet.
I like the fact that you don't have to bet alot, but it does make for a bit of excitement.

Normally I partake in the office sweep, only 5 of us so not happening this year. I'm envious of my friend who is going to the Melbourne Cup today, its so much fun getting dressed up and going to the races, not many chances in life to wear hats.

Just got my pick in the office sweepstake - Basaltico.
I watch the race every year and normally put a couple of dollars on one, nothing serious

we usually do $10 bets each. and the winner is whoever wins the most.....usually one or two dollars. I usually do a box trifecta and then one each way on a few others. I actually forgot to put the bets on this year - which saved us $20 as we would have got zilch.

We get in to it as "once a year fun". We didnt win anything this year but its all about the fun of it rather than from a gambling perspective.
