Good on you becca.l for having the courage to ask for help and also for being brave enough to come on here and tell people. Depression can be such an isolating and difficult problem along with being so misunderstood, this is something that can happen to any of us .
I very much admire you and wish you all the very best, I am sure you will be feeling on top of the world in no time.

 Thanks everyone.
I decided to tell you what I'm going through for three reasons:
1) you will probably notice it coming through in my posts sometimes, so you may as well know what's happening rather than guessing
2) I really need to know I'm normal!
3) I want other mums who might read this and recognise bits to know they are normal, and there is help out there.

Hey the Becca - big hugs and hope things are going better for you today - although i know where you are coming from and even though each person's experience is different i can fully understand all of the above statements. I definately think that it can all be made worse when you have moved to a small town, or have left the supports you had before. Studying made things a heck of alot worse for me to start with, and when ihave an assignment due i am the same, the house is a mess, the kids don't get my full attention, (nothing really does) the assignment gets left, and left, and left, until it is done with a few days to spare, i am a screaming wreck and close to break down but scarily enough that's how i get my best assignments, cos i work so hard and fast that only the best stuff comes out of my brain, lolol.. Mike usually knows when things are getting a bit much cos i tend to describe feeling like i am the bottom of a tower of bricks, feeling as if more and more is being piled on top of me - more responsibility, more things to do, whatever, and i am just waiting for it all to crash down around me. I am glad you are getting help - it is hard to ask sometimes, it definately isn't a sign of weakness, but a sign of strength to know that it all isn't working how things are and to want to change it. good luck

Aw Becca, hope you are feeling a bit better now that you have got other people on board. I'd love to help you by taking the little things off your load! Maybe you should move to Wellington
Keep the goal in sight of moving to somewhere where you can develop bigger support networks but try not to let it get you down in the mean time!
Take the kidlets down to a cafe (with a decent toy box and child-friendly atmosphere) and let them run riot while you have a cup of tea (or whatever) you never know who you might find to have a talk to!
Thinking of you heaps.. lotsa hugs! xoxox

I would love to go to a cafe... but "cafe" and "child-friendly" don't extend beyond highchairs here in Ohakune ... so I just let Josiah run riot in the lounge, shut the hall and kitchen doors so I know he's contained and sit back on the couch with the Sky remote and a hot chocolate made from my coffee machine!
Lol... maybe we shouldn't move to Wellington... I don't want to be hosting the get-togethers every week just cause I make a damn good cappachino!

Oh I forgot about your "home cafe"! That's so very cool.... and once again... yes for Wellington. I hear Kilbirnie is a lovely area
Maybe you need to put a sign outside your house that says "coffee + child-friendly zone". You'd have all the friends in the world!

I don't live on a main street - the biggest contributer to traffic down our road is the produce trucks coming from or going to their depot at the end of the road! I'm a bit worried about what sort of company I'd attract with a sign like that!
I rung the Open Polytech on Friday, and talked to my tutor... I got a D on an assignment I summitted a while ago (but haven't got back yet)... with that, and the depression, and Bubs on the way, we agreed that the best thing for me to do at the moment is to formally withdraw from my papers. I'm enrolled in two this semester, and two next, so I've set in the email to withdraw from the lot.
We won't get a refund for this semester's papers, but we should get a full refund for next sememster's ones (which will go back on my student loan). Nathaniel is fine with this, as I did investigate it properly (by discussing it with my tutor before making any definite decision). I will look at re-enrolling in the future, when I have a proper work ethic, and can give my studies their due attention.
I'm really glad to have one less thing to worry about! I meet with the home-help coordinator tomorrow, and I see the councellor for the first time on Wednesday, so everything's coming together.

Hey Becca
I remember when I first saw this post at the beginning of May and I was really low also at this time, but much too afraid to talk about it. Thank you for being brave!
I feel much better now - the kids had all just been sick then and I think some other stuff was going on (can't remember now), but it was just a couple of weeks of a low. I get those now and then when I'm overtired/worn out!
Things are finally getting better here. I'm almost starting to have fun with my kids - what a surprise!

Big hugs Becca! I'm with aimeejoy, dropping the tech will certainly lightened the load so sounds like a really wise decision. Good 4 u!
As for the cafe idea, do you have any indoor play centres over there? We have a couple over here (Wriggle It & Toytown)which are blumin marvelous coz theres a huge play area 4 the kids with climbing equip & tonnes of toys etc + a cafe in the centre. Once a month I meet up with some of my friends & we can enjoy a coffee & gossip while the kids wear themselves out. They're a gr8 idea & u can often get discount admission vouchers on-line.

That's a wonderful idea, Tansy... I wish Ohakune had somewhere like that.
The permenant population of Ohakune is 1500 people. During ski season, it trebles.
The town consists of: a hairdresser, New World, a dairy, lots of smallish cafe/bar/resteraunts, a couple of (really expensive) clothes shops, several ski equipment hire places, an electrical appliance store, two or three gifty-type shops, Benchmark, a butcher, pharmacy, and four (!) real estate agents. Oh, and the two banks.
There really is nothing here!

I still think you should start up "Cafe de Becca"
Like I said yesterday, I'd pay $3.50 for a cup of your coffee
