    Posted: 01 March 2008 at 7:52pm
So I invested in a 'Red Stamp' Stick Mixer(like a few of you suggested) in the hope of making all of bubs veges from now on! ...I have a question regarding cleaning/washing the bottom half. Can I fully immerse it when I wash it (bottom half only when unattached from motor) or can I only stick the end bit with the blades in to give a quick wash? ...probably a silly question but one worth asking!

And one last question, with any baby food I make ...whats the guidelines for keeping it in the fridge ...how long can I store it for etc etc? I will make it regularly as I don't want to go to the extent of storing it in our freezer!

Thanks in advance!

From memory 3 days is how long it can last in the fridge.

But when I clean mine I put in in water as far up as the mess is (which is usually a little bit up the stick). I usually have it running under water and wash with a cloth and then put the blade bit in the water and spin that to clean it.

I was a puree feeder, forward facing, cot sleeping, pram pushing kind of Mum... and my kids survived!

I do the same, about half way up the stick but have it under hot running water.

We found we freezed pureed baby food in ice-cube trays, that way we had a bag of potato, a bag or carrots, pumpkin, etc and once we introduced meat i would brown and cook plain chicken/beef/pork or lamb mince, and puree that up too, then i could kinda throw together different meals by grabbing a few different ice-cubes to give different tastes etc.

Just a question, why don't you want to store it in the freezer?

I think you can only keep it in the fridge for 48hrs and 3months in the freezer or 6 in the deep freeze.

We used to do what Janine said and freeze in Ice cubes etc.

We also cleaned it the same way.

I've tried making food for him yesterday & today and he's just not taking anything ...all ends up on the floor! I'm so sick of this solids business, one week he's eating fine, the next he won't have a bar of it!

I think this calls for tough love ...I've had enough! Not one night have we had an undisturbed sleep ...and on a good night he only wakes 2-3 times! GRRRRRRRRRRRRR
