I would like to get my children something very significant for their 5th birthdays. And I have thought about getting them a greenstone when they turn 5. Can I do this (I am thinking about Maori traditions here)?? And is it possible when I get around to getting it I can find one that the greenstone has come from my tribal area (I am from Kaikoura)?? And how do I get it blessed??

And is this an alright thing to get boys??
I was a puree feeder, forward facing, cot sleeping, pram pushing kind of Mum... and my kids survived!

Sure is , You will need to get it blessed by a kamatua sp! Hehehe................ Braedon got one made for him from my uncle when he was born it is getting a little small and I need to replace the string but he rarely wears it now was great when he was teething...........

personally i wouldnt get my boys greenstone for their 5th birthday, their 21st maybe tho... i dont know if they would appreciate it as a fifth birthday gift.
but it is definitely acceptable to give boys greenstone.
