Topic: What toys did your kid enjoy the most? Posted: 05 May 2007 at 7:27pm |
Specially around the 18 to 2 year old mark. There is just such a vast amount of toys that I just get too overwhelmed even looking into all of them and if they are educational or not ect ect.
McKayla loves using her imagination and is happy with anything but just starting to look out for something special for her. To treat her after my studies. So any ideas here? We are getting her a small laptop so she can work on her own one while I am busy. (or I am at least hoping she will.)

Around that age, Ella absolutely loved her little dolls pram, and would spend ages pushing it around with her soft toys in it.
Are you a member of a toy library? I found that it was great having different toys for a few weeks, then getting more.. as they get sick of most toys after a little while anyway

I must actually find out about the toy libraries. McKayla has a pram and babies and actually does spent hours putting her two babies to sleep, feeding ect. Hubby is not biting that she needs a little brother or sister.

Books!!!
Lego quatro was/is a real favourite. Its the 'medium' sized one between duplo and regular size lego.
Also, riding in her car and on her bike.
Drawing and painting on her easel and chalk have been perennial favourites too.

Maya had/has Megablocks which are similar to the Quattro and she loved those, wooden jigsaw puzzles (they have less pieces so not too challenging), her 0-3 Leap Pad (I think it's called the Little Touch Leap Pad - you're welcome to borrow it for McKayla if you like coz the gremlins are too small for it yet), and of course her 'babies' and their pram/cot/high chair/front pack etc. Oh and she loved water, I used to fill a bif tub with warm soapy water and let her get in it and just play when the weather wasn't too cold.

Hannah is just getting into her babies and pram now - so cute! She also loves her wooden puzzles, dressing up, drawing and dancing to music. Oh and books.

Jake and Taine both love Duplo and play with it everyday - for about a year so far! Both love their leappads - Jake has My First, which requires a lot of adult help, and Taine has Little Touch, he requires help at times, but Jake can operate by himself.
Have jusrt discovered the scoops in the washing powder - jake LOVES these in the bath and spends ages pouring one to the next.
Both also love their little bikes too.

Jack loves pushing the wee pram round, books and sitting on his wee seat when we are sitting on seats. He also loves copying sweeping, vacuuming and wiping.

Awesome idea!! We are forever telling Brion to stop pouring her drink out at the table and it's too cold now for outdoor water play.
If you want to buy a shape sorter, I highly recommend the Playskool shape sorter cube. Much kinder on little fingers!

Jake loves anyhitng to do with outside, so has lots of spades, buckets, wheelbarrows etc, and of course, gunnies and jacket and hat! He has lots of toys, but mainly does this, and plays alot with his toy stroller (carting clods of dirt around with teddy) balls, books and wheels the bus (fisher price or playskool?), which we got for his first birthday but really loves at the moment if it is way to cold for outside.
