Topic: Arrgg WINZ and IRD Posted: 14 January 2008 at 2:34pm |
So Dh is now working so I rung them to cancel his sickness benefit and to restart the accom payments and the WFF tax credit.
WINZ - the guy was foreign and kept saying to me "you know" I was getting more and more angry with him as I didn't "you know" and he kept saying it. But he went and got his supervisor (after me telling him to) and his supervisor told him not to worry about the land value and capital value of the property as we have been getting the accom payments for years. Finally sorted but we will see next week.
IRD - got a lovely lady who told me that WINZ haven't sent through a stop date so she can't restart the WFF tax credit - that will continue later. But the best thing was that as I have way over estimated our income (by about 20.000) we are going to get a huge payout later this year (so looking forward to that should get it about the same time I go to OZ ). And that later this month I should receive the money from the childcare rebate as it is currently being processed.
Back to WINZ - as the IRD lady told me to get them to send a stop date. I ring up again get another foreign guy (is the call centre actually in NZ??), and this one tells me that yes I will be entitled to an extra payment as the stop date won't go through till later next week. He has sent an urgent email to our case manager to get the stop date to IRD asap and to ring me. I guessing that I will probably hear from him tomorrow as he is good like that.
Hopefully fingers crossed I get some money next week as DH told me that we may not get his salary for 4 weeks as they have so many to process and may not process them all in time .

i rang WINZ this morning too, to find out about whether i get a childcare subsidy for relief work and I was told FOUR times by the same (foreign) woman how to apply./ i told her that i had already applied so knew exactly how to, THEN she tells me to write that I am working 30 hours "just in case" - so basically lie. Becks, I have decided that i will no longer ring those hotlines as people are idiots. On the up side, if I'm looking for a job maybe they have some openings as it seems you don't need to know anything about anything to give advice!
yah for the bonus money though!

Oooo don't get me started on the WINZ call centre I mean its great they give all these people jobs but if you can't speak english why give them a job where all they have to do is speak english.
Mummy_becks I have been in the same situation so if it looks like you are going to be short of money try and give your case manager a call because there are all sorts of special payments for people coming off a benefit to work. Ben didn't get paid for ages and IRD didn't pay us for ages (same prob as you about stop dates) so they made sure we got a food grant and stuff just to tide us over.

Dammit, last time I rang WINZ I got the best (NZ) guy, who was so helpful and best of all, everything he said would happen, did happen, and on time! But, I didnt take his name. If I had of I would be asking for him every time - and give you all his name!
Hope you get it all sorted tomorrow Becks, and yay for a big payout!!

I was SOOOO angry, I felt like screaming, I said WELL the lady on the phone said DF didnt need to be here!

i try to take names and times, so you can pull them out and say "well, Jane told me, at 4pm that..." doesn't do crap, but might get them in trouble for giving the wrong advice.

i called last year as i had only just sent in a childcare subsidy review, and received yet another in the mail.
I called them and explained, and she assured me i should just "ignore it". took down her name, and time i spoke to her.
two months later i get a huge bill for childcare payments not paid, as i had not sent in my second review form
i rung with her name, time i called, but apparently "nothing on the records" so had to pay up. she was probably so imcompetent she didnt even note that i called at all!
