Do you want to stay in Nelson its self? Because you could stay at Tahuna thats beautiful too and right by the beach.
You could stay at the Nelson holiday park? I think its a top10 one.
They have cabins and things like that would work out heaps cheaper than a hotel and still be nice.
Yah how cool I Nelson - and it will be sooooo hot then!
I HIGHLY suggest stopping off for a night or even just the afternoon at Pelorus bridge - it is honestly amazing there. The river is just SO calm and SO clear to swim in, its a beautiful place. There isnt much there though apart from the camping grounds, cabins etc, icecream shop and the gorg river. Its between Blenheim and Nelson.

The further you go out the cheaper it is, so if you have a car then that might be an option?
Look at this one or this one.
This is the one at Tahuna
This holiday park is the closest one to Nelson city if your wanting to stay right in the city.
Hope that helps!

We're going in Jan too (earlier than you guys though) and are staying at Honeysuckle Backpackers. It's $58 a night I think, shared bathroom and kitchen/lounge, but this backpackers is small (so no big parties) and the lady sounds lovely. We asked if it would be suitable with a 1 year old, so she's put us in the twin room and we'll put the beds together (they're bigger rooms, so more room for the portacot). I don't know what it's like cos never been there, but it sounds reasonable and a good price!
Oh and I think it was $29 per person, so it might only be $29 if you're the only adult?
We're so excited about our Nelson trip! I posted a thread a while ago and got some great ideas about things to do. Definately going to the Touch the Sea place, and the little petting zoo kinda place. And some day trips to the lakes etc. Yay!
