I think people need to watch stuff like that to be more aware of what is happening and so if they think something doesn't seem right that they do something about it and don't let it get that far. So many people would have noticed that something wasn't right and buried their heads in the sand hoping someone else would do something about it.
I've seen a few of those types of video clips recently and it often seems that the real father is concerned and trying to do something about it but the social workers keep giving the babies back.

As if the world isn't depressing enough as it is, we know there is many child abuse cases like this ...I don't personally see how making a clip like that helps, just pisses me off.

That's what I wanted to say but was trying to be a bit more polite about it To me it is like rubber-neckers at a car accident.

At least its publicity...and I agree with you chelle - maybe it will make people act when they see something that is not right.
When I watched the clipI just sobbed and sobbed. I think my 15monther who looks a bit like Baby P thought I was nuts. It keeps disturbing me though...

It was such a terrible situation. I just can't understand how so many people let it happen.
What was with the child being returned to the mother when she was out on bail?? And eyewitnesses, the Dr, etc etc. That child was failed so badly by society, let alone his mother and the abuser.

Well, I'm going to take offense at the rubber necking comment.
For me personally this is the first clip like this i've seen and its made me actively want to do something, whether it be something simple as a donation or what I don't know but its still at the front of my mind since yesterday.
So for me if they made this clip so people would take action then it worked.

I did sleep badly after watching that clip the other night. All I can think of, is that a parent/s is suppose to be the support and comforter of a child - and for a child not to have that it breaks my heart!!! When the one person or persons who've brought you into this world treat you so badly, and you've got noone else to turn to for protection from the horrid acts performed on you, it really distresses me.
That health system fully failed that child and have a lot to answer too. And the poor father who had no power. The mother (and wasn't it grandmother too??) who let that ba$tard do those things to that baby need to be shot along with him.

Children are born into this world asking for nothing more than love, food to eat and to be clothed and kept warm....its a natural right that every single baby is entitled to....and its horrifying that in this day and age, babies everywhere are still not appreciated for the beautiful gifts that they are .
This clip made me sick , angry , upset, but if the clip gave the little boy a voice, no matter how late, so that it can hopefully teach people a lesson in not being complacent, then im glad I saw it .
That little boy was let down by so many that he should have been able to relie on , as far as im concerned, they ALL have his blood on their hands .
May he rest in peace away from pain and fear .

Their names were supressed because the case was so high profile that there had been threats made on their lives from prisioners. The names were actually released by a family member quite a while ago and carried in one of the papers (perhaps The Sun?) so at one point most people knew who they were.
I was living in England at the time and the sadest thing is that athough his death gave the social services a little bit of a shake up and a few people got fired, fundamentally nothing has changed.

Wow Summerlamb, did anything happen to them once the names were released - I can only hope prison is a living hell for those people.
Its a real shame nothing has changed, shame isn't s strong enough word, its outrageous!

There was never any report on anything happening to them but I'm sure the rest of the prisioners let them know their feelings on the matter.

My thoughts exactly. I'm not even going to watch it.

I have not watched it & I wont. I don't need to see a clip of horrible acts on a child to know there are sick fu*kers out there that do these kind of things. They should be put to death not given fame by flashing it on the net.
We forget too easy what happens to these little tots that are abused & murders, what about all the little ones here in NZ who have lost there lives to pain & the abusers have not meet justice.
Unfortunately there are to many out there that do this and too many that look away.
