Topic: I really hate ... Posted: 20 November 2008 at 7:10pm |
This
standing at the bus stop and the stranger next to you says
"hi " , so you say "hi " back
they say "how are you ?" you say "um...fine thanks, ...how are you ?"
then they say "omg I know , have you heard from Sarah since the weekend ?"
and you realise that they were NOT talking to you , but were actually talking to their cell phone .
To someone else .
And you (or in this case , me ) feel like a right idiot .
Its happened to me soooo many times

Laughing in sympathy - I've done that so many times. Usually I'm in a situation where I can keep moving, except for one time when I was in a changing room in a clothes shop. Don't know why the heck I thought they were talking to me

The worst one is when someone starts walking towards you like they're going to hug you and you kinda start to hug them back in case you know them......And then you realise they're going to hug the person behind you. THAT"S embarrassing.

Lol!
I hate those in ear phone things. Youll be talking to someone and the next thing they get a call and start talking to the person on the other end and you have no idea.

I always do it ! i never learn ..."kelly , you live in AUCKLAND, whats more , you live in EAST auckland , do you reallly think people are going to smile , let alone say hello to someone they don't know ? you could have rabies for goodness sakes ! "
as for the hug thing, yep ,done that too , and the wave thing, when you wave back to someone, just to discover they were waving at the person behind you ,,,since only crazy people like you , wave at people you don't know

Ooh, me too! Infact the last time was just a couple of days ago. I never know whether I should just pretend I was talking on my (invisible non-existant) hands-free phone too! You do feel like such an idiot....
and the opposite has happened too - I was also at a bus stop, and the person really was talking to me, but I assumed they were talking on a phone, (as who in Auckland talks to random people at bus stops?? she was asking about what I was studying at uni of all things!)....but I was oblivious, and felt like an idiot when I finally clicked as there was no-one else there.

LOL, that is so funny. What you need to do next time is pretend you're talking on the phone too. Carry on a short one sided convo and then hang up (and hope your mobile doesn't ring while you're on your pretend call).
