Do you want to eat healthier?
- to lose weight?
- to be healthier?
- to save $$$ on takeaways etc
- for other health reasons?
- to help with breastfeeding?

Nup, this is not an infomercial! :)

Maybe we can use this thread to support each other! Since becoming a SAHM I've been consuming more and more junk food. Although weight isn't a factor for me I would like to stop eating so much sugar as the more I eat it the more I need it to keep my energy up. My main problem is 2pm onwards...all I want to do is eat...no amount of protein in the morning, fruit for snacks etc etc seems to help...I have a balanced lunch and then neeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeed something sweet from a packet! Grrr. I'm also having coffee issues. I never used to have more than 1 cup a day but now I have 3. If I skip one I start to feel really blaaaaaaa and I'd like to cut back down to 1.

Anyone else need some support and encouragement (or a swift kick up the butt) to eat better? Post here and let's help each other out!

My problem is chippies and chocolate. For some reason that is all I want to eat after 7pm which is the worst time ever to eat. I'm joining weight watchers at the end of this month and i'm so looking forward to it.

Maybe we should have a dedicated weight loss forum topic??? Maybe Emma????

I was a puree feeder, forward facing, cot sleeping, pram pushing kind of Mum... and my kids survived!

Or maybe just healthy lifestyle topic (as some people don't need to lose weight but do need to eat better / exercise more etc)

One way I cut sugar a large quantity of sugar out of my diet was ala French Women Don't Get Fat (brilliant book! One of the best I've come across for healthy eating habits) - I started little by little cutting down sugar in my drinks, and now I don't even have sugar in coffee. Just by doing that, I eliminated 12-20 teaspoons of sugar a day! I feel much better for it too. I'm still a lollie muncher but I'll usually try and get lollies from the bulk bins (so I only get half a dozen or something), or else from the lollie shop (same thing).

I find that doing my own baking too I get a better idea of what is in something, and I'm less likely to eat more than I should when I've seen all the sugar and butter go into it! I say less likely because ... well ... you know

I try to eat well for all of those reasons Fiona - especially at the mo where I want to be nice and healthy for IVF, and ideally lose a couple of KG (literally - I float around 63-65 now, so if I could float around 60-62 I'd be quite happy). Plus, Mum told me that apparently if you have a high-sugar diet, you tend to have bigger babies So we'll be wanting to avoid that

Yep me to, I have it the other way around I don't have to lose weight I have to gain it(Damm anxiety). SO I'm really interested in healthier eating. I don't think chips and chocolate qualify as a healthy breakfast!

haha.. that's soooo not true here! I bake all the time and I eat most of it! Because I know that it doesn't have preservatives etc in the baking.. for some reason I don't care about the butter quantity!

well.. if that theory is true, my little 6lber wasn't the norm then hehe

Hello Miss 9lb 7oz first baby

I really really really need to lose weight! As soon as I've finished my saucepan cake I PROMISE

I think a weight loss/healthy eating forum is a great idea, especially with input from the experts!

I need someone to find me 20 minutes in my day where I can do my exercise without little people being around

We have an apple tree and have been eating a lot of apple crumble lately! But I've just realised something: instead of roast + crumble, let's have a lighter dinner! Tonight we're having pumpkin soup + apple crumble - sound a bit better? Hopefully that way we won't fill up on dinner and THEN have pudding on top

Apple crumble tip...use chopped dates instead of sugar with the apple + use 1/2 wholegrain oats & 1/2 wholemeal flour + half the amount of butter in the topping! It still tastes fab but is essentially healthy! Deborah, Toni, Emma and Amy have had it made this way...ladies..was it nice?

And Toni...my latest trick for getting exercise in is to turn...wait for it...Aqua (shameful I know!) on and dance around the lounge whilst doing exercise moves. Elle is so busy starring at her crazy mother she forgets to grizzle! If she does I pick her up and use her like a weight :) Aqua has a great beat for exercise (shhhhh, don't tell DH that I have that old CD in the house!)
