Hi Kandice,

I have made a few cakes for family etc and found a good cake decorating shop in Christchurch. It is quite a random little shop and they don't have a heap of stock but always seem to have what I want and the lady is very helpful. It is called the Ta-Dah Icing Specialists and there address is Shop 6, Church Corner Mall, Riccarton (the funny wee set of shops over the road from Bush-Inn on Riccarton Road). I suggest you take the picture with you and she will be able to give you advice. I hire tins (have heaps of shapes) and buy cake boards etc from there. I know they have the hard icing stuff and the powdered colorings.

i also found cake books from library good, usually have pictures of the cake then the icing recipe (so you can get an idea of what it will look like).

Hope that helps you.
