Somewhere over the rainbow / wonderful world by IZ was our first dance and we both love it...reminds us of wedding and hawaii and DH always plays it for me when he is romanticaaly minded (or feeling guilty!)
also Shania Twain for wedding too!
Also I love billy joel - "Honesty" and anything else off 52nd street album....love it - sing to it - housework to it - but gotta b LOUD!!!
Kids in america - always reminds me of road trips with other Kiwi nannies when i worked in states...brings tears to my eyes!

Ah yes, but do you know who did the original? I have a few of his CDs, my Dad is a big folk music fan.
The longer this thread goes on, the more I'll ramble on...
Paws, I'd never heard of Steven Curtis Chapman til I saw the slideshow that Jax sent and now I love his song "With hope", it is beautiful.
Danni - I like Pink Floyd too, reminds me of Willie and I before we had Maya, on a Sunday he used to put Pink Floyd on really loud while we cleaned the house etc. I alwys associate it with sunny weather tho, maybe he didn't play it when it rained, or maybe I have a selective memory.
Willie loves the BeeGees so a lot of their songs have significance for us, he used to sing "How deep is your love" to me (when he was really, really drunk!) and they played "Immortality" at my friends funeral
I like Elton Johns love songs, my fave is Empty Garden (Hey Johnny) but I also like the one about butterflies are free to fly, can't remember the name of it and too lazy to dig it out of the CD pile. And all his old ones like Your Song, Candle in the Wind etc. I saw him live with Billy Joel when they came out years ago, it was brilliant. Billy Joel is pretty cool too, I like Innocent Man and Only the Good Die Young.
And I'm a big fan of the Grays Anatomy soundtrack, love love love "How to Save a Life".
Thats all for now

Ahhh, Bone Thugs - they've done some awesome collabs lately, I like their one with Phil Collins, and their latest one with Akon.
Is it just me or is Akon a bit of a music whore? I like his stuff, but man he gets around - he's done so many collaborations!

I also really really really love the song "somewhere somehow" by wet wet wet (don't tell anyone...)
ANNND (cos I will never shut up, this is my fave topic) U + UR hand by Pink. Makes me LAUGH, really really reminds me of girls nights out when I was young and hot, and we used to actually say "keep your drink, just give me the money.."
Yep, AKON is a bit of a music Ho. Not really into that kinda stuff, either.

You do? Does it make me sound like a mega geek that sometimes I open a page and play that slideshow on it just so I can listen to the song while I'm working...

Good old Elton John how sad is this, the only concert I have ever been to is Elton John . My brother took me for my birthday when I was a teenager. It was good but all I could see was a purple bob on stage.
Emma- that's cool, DH has a few mates that are still into it. I know he misses it sometimes and from what I have heard from other people he was really good, I used to love going to sleep listening to him play.

Emma - I had tears come to my eyes when I read "Leather and Lace" by Stevie Nicks. Dunno if it's cos I'm just seriously emotional at the moment or what!! But I used to listen to that song over and over again and wish that it would happen to me. When I'm angry I like to listen to Imogen Heap. Wind Beneath My Wings was played at my previous bosses funeral (representative of the love between him and his partner and their son), and now when I hear it I cry.

Leonardo's Bride - Even when I'm sleeping. That song got me and Hubby talking the first time I met him and I walked down the aisle to it at our wedding.
Elton John - Tiny Dancer. Ella Kicking and dancing in my tummy made me think of this song, and so I played it a lot for her before and after she was born. I still sing and dance to it with her now, she loves it!
Michael Jackson - Ben. Completely unimaginative and written for a rat, but this is the song I play and sing with my bubba Ben
I'm so cheesey

Mazzy Star "fade into you" is one song that I play when I am feeling a bit melancholic. It's beautiful.
Also, Dave Dobbyn "Welcome Home" (yep, cheesy and naff!) was a song I listened to a couple of times when preggy and it made me think of my little man in my tummy (the line "welcome home, you see I've made a place for you now...." brought me to preggy hormone induced tears every time!
John Mayer "your body is a wonderland" is a song that has great sentimental significance to me and DP.
A couple of hard-banging house tracks from my time in London still take me back to the good old days.....
Ah, so sentimental

I can never say Tiny Dancer tho without conjuring up visions of Tina Turner's Private Dancer. Bizarre huh!
Clare - I love Welcome Home too, I never really got the point of it, just thought it was a nice song, til I saw the video with all the new migrants in it.
I've had Phil Collins playing this morning, I really like a few of his songs, especially Against the Odds, and Separate Lives.
My melancholic songs are This is the Life from the Dangerous Minds soundtrack, and Only Time by Enya, they played it in Third Watch when Bobby (?) the ambo guy died.

Such a large taste of music here.
I am a big David Bowie fan. Saw him in 2004, excellent seats... best night of my life!
I also love...
The Police
The Exponents
Pink Floyd
The Eagles
Dire Straits
Guns 'n' Roses
Led Zepplin
Oasis
Kings of Leon
Arctic Monkeys
As for a favourite song... I am not sure I have one. I have a couple of fav 80s songs that I love singing along to. Like "Luca" and "Bettie Davies Eyes".
