    Posted: 10 January 2008 at 1:37pm

ok I don't have them but my BF and my little sister have them. So they are moving out of their flats into one together.

First one My BF flatmate. He is anal about everything. On Monday he and the other flatmate cooked dinner at home and my BF didn't. But when she came home she used a glass and a knive. Tuesday morning he gets up early (just as my BF was leaving for work at 7am) just to tell her off for not doing the dishes last night. They have a screaming match in the middle of Haitaitai. Tuesday night I have dinner there with her and he didn't say a word to her. However once we left and after she spoke to her dad on the phone he rings her dad to talk to her dad about her attitude to dishes . This dude has his own issues.

Second my sisters (My sister and her friend S have the lease on the flat). Her job is standing on the street corner and doing things to men for money (I have nothing against her job she wants to do it thats fine). My problem with her is that she is now 6 weeks behind in her rent and the LL won't do anything about kicking her out and is 4 months behind in the phone bill which is in my sisters name (the bill has been paid but she owes my sister the money for it), and is very inconsiderate to the other flatmates with noise. My sister before she left disconnected the phone without telling the horror flatmate  who I will call BW.

On Tuesday I went down to pick my sister up from the airport and we were going to stay at her place. We got back to her flat and BW had a note on her door stating tennant asleep please be quiet, now as she is never quiet when the other ask her to be we ignored that and I let the boys talk and play. BW gets all huffy and storms outside it have a smoke and talk on her cell phone (now she can't use the LL ) comes back in and we are getting the boys ready for bed and she can see this.

So she goes into her room and turns the stereo up really loud. I knocked on the door and asked nicely if she could turn it down a bit so the whole of Wellington didn't have to hear it. No response, so I knock a bit harder. She comes out all guns blazing yelling abuse at me in front of my children that I have no right to be there, i'm a fat cow, I should be knocking on the door etc etc. I let her go for it and she was inching towards the door so I knew she was going to yell and run (a wimp). After she had finished I asked her if she had and told her MY turn (in a calm voice). 1. I did knock on your door but the stereo and what you call singing was far too loud to hear anything. 2. Pay your rent - she butting in again and told me it was none of my business and 3 pay the phone bill - to which she told me again none of my business. To that I responded if its in my sisters name I have every right to help my sister out.

She left the flat and I did not want to be there any more for my childrens safety. I could handle her but my boys didn't need to see her doing what she did, and I knew she would turn her stereo up load and leave it up all night (which she did do as the flat next door heard it all night long ).

So we left to sleep at my sister's bosses place as they were away. My parents are livid with BW and really want my sister our of the flat (lease runs out next month - thank god).

My sister and S had a meeting with BW yesterday after I came back home and have told her she has until 6pm on the 16th to pay everything that is owed or they are taking her to court to get the money (disputes tribunal) and they know they will get the money as a lawyer (a friend of these) has already told them they have a good case as they have evidence.

So anyone else got horror flatmate stories??

I was a puree feeder, forward facing, cot sleeping, pram pushing kind of Mum... and my kids survived!

I had one of those forst flatmates, too, he was a right dick, and used to ring up my mum and complain about how "moody" I was inthe mornings. I know I am a bit moody in the AM, so I have always told people about it, so there is no shock that I say very little till after a cuppa and a shower and about 8.30am, even mykids get the quiet treatment, lol.

I have a few horrors, wil have to think on it and get back to ya.

I've had a flatmate do a runner with the rent.

Another flat was in and flatmate had some very doggy mates who stole the wheels of other flatmates Holden Commodore Ute.

I flatted in London with 17 others!!!

I have to confess I've been a bit of a b*tc* flatmate at times bringing dodgy fellas home at all hours and keeping my flatmates up - sorry! Always paid my rent though.
Never when children were around though, I'd never do that.

My sister had the weirdest flatmate - turned out she was stealing things and a habitual liar and had lied about every single thing since she first moved in (including having a daughter who died of leukemia) She was finally found out when she told another flatmate that a painting on the wall had been done by her 'dead daughter' - shame she didn't know that the painting had been done by our younger sister and the other flatmate knew this and told my sister. Needless to say she was asked to leave pretty quick...

I've lived with lots of interesting people..

Worst flat mate had to be this chick who came to live with us for about 6 weeks. She moved in, told us she wasn't a party girl etc.. me and my flatties went in her room one day to get dishes that she had left in there, she had lots of plates etc and we found needles n sh*t on the floor so we kicked her out

i had an awesome flat but my flatmates were all moving away so decided to get other people to share the house. big mistake

first i got "mike". "mike" had one leg. the other....was amputated in a car accident. one night he was watching a video. OF HIS DOG EATING HIS LEG!!!!! he sent it in to some reality show where they told him he was sick.

after that shocker, my other flatmate came home, completely out of his head, and threw my video out the window. I rang my boyfriend and said I was getting out. Came back the next day to get stuff and there was about 20 used needles sitting on the doorstep. I rang the landlords and told them i was moving immediately and why. they were very sympathetic. no idea what happened to the weirdos

Ok our flatmates aren't scary like that....did kick one of them out the other day after discovering that he had turned his room into a little growing room (complete with lights, fans etc). And if he hadn't gone away for New Years we would still be completely oblivious. They are boys though (there's me, and 3 boys) and they're errrr.....not the cleanest. They're not THAT bad, but I cleaned the shower the other week and almost threw up from the smell. Thank heavens soon it'll just be DP, me and the quiet flatmate (we're not getting a replacement one).

we dont quite have the flatmates from hell but we are about to move into a house owned by a friend i have grown up with and she has just kicked the current tenants out...so anyway there are so many things that il only list a few - they have parties all the time! which always end in huge fights at around 3am! a few weeks ago one guy was running around the culdasac screaming that he had killed his bro! (incase your wondering - we currently live across the road! lol) so these parties always end with the cops,,,,, the house was newly renovated before they moved in and it now has holes in all the walls, curtains are ripped to shreads!, kitchen has to be replaced ASAP (dodgy activities!!), the bathroom and toilet needs to be replaced!, they have 3 caravans, 4 cars dumped in the back yard!, several dogs, the carpet is shot thanks to the dogs and their kids who have *AHEM* "issues"! , they are unbelievably behind on the rent!, the windows on 1 side are smashed and worst of all their next door neighbour is the landlords mother!!!! and evertime this lady has a BBQ they jump the fence and join in on the feed!! amoung other things!!........needless to say my friend DID NOT get a bond from them for some reason! so is left to clean it up herself!! and they now have 3 days to move but have not lifted a finger so i see trouble comming!!

I once (along time ago) lived in a flat with a guy called 'Steve', who was older and seemed really nice. Most of the people who lived in the flat all worked together, and went down south on a work trip for a week, while they were away 'steves' sister apparently was killed in a car accident, and when they came back he dropped everyone off and went for a drive. Everyones stuff (and the takings - bosses money) was in the car with him, after waiting 12 or so hours the boss was getting a bit nervous (as it was alot of cash) and called the cops - we were all a bit worried anyway. So the cops arrive and after some time talking to them, we find out, the car doesn't belong to him, its stolen from Hertz (rented out under a different name with a stolen credit card), his name isn't Steve at all, he is wanted for 8 or so counts of fraud in NZ and 12 or so in Aus. As you can imagine we were all pretty shocked, as all he had told us was a big lie!

About a year later was sitting watching 60 minutes and low and behold - 'Steve' was on it, he had been taking advantage of women throughout NZ and stealing all their money, I was pretty shocked to see him on it, jumping up and down and yelling OMG - I lived with him.

I would never flat with someone I didn't really know anymore (not that I have flatted with anyone beside DH for quite some time). It was a major life lesson, now sometimes I have to ask myself - how well do you really know this person??

Well, I don't know if this really gets me into the 'horror' category of flatmates, but I had a couple of flatties in Auckland who were less than ideal.
In the first flat there was 'Lynn'. She was a bit older than me and had just divorced her husband, so the flat was filled with her half of their house, couches etc., which was cool and it wasn't like me and the other girl there were huge slobs. But Lyn was the most anal, pendantic person I've ever met. She'd go into huge hissy fits if we didn't rearrange the throw cushions on the couch after sitting on it and other small and petty issues. Then she got a cat. The cat pooed EVERYWHERE and she'd leave it for days before cleaning it up . I hated that cat. Then Lynn moved out to live with her new boyfriend, without telling us, was behind in the rent AND left the cat behind for two weeks, expecting us to feed and look after it without ever mentioning this fact (she took the couches before she took the cat). Nightmare.
The second flat was much more fun, but one of the guys there insisted on walking around in his robe with nothing else on underneath. I never sat on the couch he would lounge on. And he kept inviting randoms back to stay, mostly travellers, which was cool as we got to meet some interesting people, but he never got them to contribute anything and when other flatties went away he was likely to let the randoms stay in their bedrooms! One night one of the other guys came home early from a trip away and got a nasty surprise - an english couple who were staying in his room (without his knowledge) had left their pet german shepard in there and when he opened the door it went mental! Poor guy had to wait for the people to return from their night out to get into his own room. He was not impressed. We all ended up getting bolts and padlocks for our doors so if we went away he couldn't use them!
Mum to two gorgeous girls!

OK, the first ever flat I lived in when I was 16:
the flatmates hated to clean, and when i tried they would mess it up the same day.
They weren just messy, they were disgustingly dirty! they would eat takeaways in their room and leave the litter all over the flor. sure it was thier room, but man did it stink! Granted, i didnt live there for very long! three months I think.

THen when i moved fomr being a boarder to my own flat, I had my now husband, and two friends living with us. One of the friends now boards with us in our own home. THe other friend? Man, did I discover that she has abandonment, security and friendship issues!
When my hubby and I got enaged we were obviously excited. She ws in her room, with a frined. We left as it was a late night to go see if we could pick out a ring. When we got back I found her sitting in the middle of the living room floor rocking. I asked her what was wrong and she started screaming at me:
why did you leave me?
why didnt you tell me you were going out?
why couldnt i come?
Why didnt you tell me straight away you got engaged!!?

She yelled at e for ages and we ended up haveing a screamer of a fight. These fights were to become the stable of our relationship over the space of that year until Id had enough and had to kick her out. So i did.
I then made the mistake of inviting her to live with me in my own homw 6 months later, as we had a house with a sleepout. After three months we started fighting again. So, i ended up having to kick her out again.
I dont really speak to her anymore. Occaisionally we might go out for a coffee, but she is a bit self centered for my liking so i try to keep it to once every 6 months or so!!

Yip - I'm guessing its the same person your thinking of. But he had us all fooled, like he did with those poor women. Hopefully though the law caught up with him and some justice has been done. (Esp for those women he ripped off)
