My wedding dress DOESNT FIT Its al ready tight across my belly and Im only 7 1/2 weeks along! So there is no way its going to fit when Im 18 weeks pregnant!
Now we have to figure out how to alter it.....its like satin underneath with chiffon stuff over the top, but the chiffon doesnt join at the front(IYKWIM).
I really thought it was going to be ok cos of the empire style but I didnt think about the satin underneath is quite a bit tigher than the chiffon!! *sigh*. So I need to find a good seamstress who can alter it in a way that it wont look crap!

Oh no! Can you get a seamstress to unpick the side seams and add another panel of satin on each side to widen it?

Thats what I was thinking Jo, that would work quite well because the chiffon over the top covers all that, I just need a "bit" of extra room for my tummy lol. Its a bit snug across my boobs, but that means i dont need to wear a bra and it makes my boobs look good! hehe
We get married early March lol, so I dont have a lot of time left! *sigh*

The woman who made my dress was awesome! She did the final alterations just before I flew to Wellington for the ceremony.
She might be a tad far away for you though (she is in Mt Albert) but pm me if you want her details.

Take it to Roses on Broadway in Newmarket.
I borrowed my bosses wifes dress for an army ball a few years back. It was pure silk, black with fine ribbon stitched from the top to the bottom. Some designer Anna Sch......something a rather.....
Anyway, the drycleaners mooshed it. I mean they really destroyed it (TLC in glenfield mall). The fabric was puckered, the ribbons were coming apart from the dress and the chule (sp?) underneath was rough and torn where as it used to be soft and floaty. A real mess.
Anyway, The lady at Roses took it home and worked on it for weeks. She gave me back what could have been a brand new gown. I don't know how she did it but I would go there again in a heart beat.

But its not really a BAD problem to have is it? after all you get another baby at the end.
I'm sure it can be adjusted.

Line up someone now to amend it, but don't go on your measurements just yet. Pregnancy has a way of reapportioning your body; e.g. your lungs expand so you may well get a bit bigger at the empire line not just boobs/tummy.

Yeah thats true, the bust area is quite firm, and I dont want to feel restricted on the day, the whole reason for getting that dress was because it is so comfy and I want to keep it that way lol.
Im going to look around for someone on Tuesday while Im out and about.

Hey hun, sorry I didn't txt you back yesterday!!! But thanks for that info.
When we had to get a couple of last minute changes made to my gown we used a lady recommended by David Mills fabric in town (next to the National bank and $2 shop), she was fantastic and i believe it wasn't too expensive either, so I'd pop in there and ask them!!!!!!

Ah thats an easy fix. You're damned lucky it's a empire line with cups girl. They'll be able to add fabric in at the back seam and move the cups and stitch it all back together so you wont know the difference.

What a gorgeous dress, just prefect for a little bump.
Looks like it shouldn't be too hard to adjust, just hope you manage to get it sorted soon so you have one less thing to stress about!

Oh no, sorry to hear that Sheena! Gorgeous dress though, good luck with getting it sorted, not what you need at this point out from the big day
Have you tried asking Change of Address in Puke if they know of any good seamstresses? Seeing as they sell wedding gowns they might know someone.
Good Luck!
