Topic: A couple of things that p1ss me off. Posted: 02 January 2008 at 11:26pm |
One of my biggest pet peeves is littering.
It just seems so careless, selfish and lazy to me.
The one thing that peeves me the most is horrid people who litter with their kid's dirty nappies. It is not only disgusting, lazy and selfish, it is also hazardous.
Is it so hard to find a bin to put it in? Or hang on to it until you get home?
Why do people think that it is ok to just chuck it on the ground for some other poor sod to clean up after them?
What if we all thought like that?!
The reason for my rant is that we were out at Long Bay beach today. They have a 'take your rubbish with you' policy out there and as a way of enforcing this they don't provide any bins.
I couldn't believe the amount of families who just left their litter lying where they'd been sitting!
I understand it is an annoying policy if you don't know about it before you arrive and haven't brought any bags with you to take stuff home in, but surely you could put it in the containers your food came in? Or just hang on to it until you find a public bin on the way home instead of leaving it all over the beach?
One family in particular really disgusted me. They had the foresight to bring 5 big black rubbish sacks to collect their rubbish in but they left them all sitting in the carpark where the seagulls had a field day spreading it out again.
And some charming person had left 5 dirty nappies in a pile next to our car.
Ugh! Rant over.

we have signs saying its illegal to litter but people still do it its disgusting.
there should be bins everywhere but then people are still l azy & wont use them

Ewwwwww gross.
It's not that difficult to pack away one's rubbish and just pop in the bin once home. It's disgusting that people can do that!
ETA: esp the nappies

Ew! I sometimes wonder what sort of parents would bring their child up to NOT instinctively take rubbish with you or put it in a bin!
There's a back road going south out of CHCH that runs parallel to the main road, anyway people just chuck all of their takeaway packs out the window, and even dump trailer loads of rubbish there, because they don't get seen. I just don't get it? Why would you want to litter our countryside?
It's like how I don't get grafitti: it takes no skill whatsoever, looks like c**p, is mindless vandalism of someone else's property, and for what?
I don't know if its nature or nurture, but some people just don't seem to have a social conscience. I get so angry about this stuff - what gives someone the right to ruin it for everyone else?
Anyway, that's my high-and-mighty rant over!

Eww the thing that annoys me about nappies is that a parent is the only person who doesn't mind touching them, so because of their laziness someone else has to touch your childs filth when you were touching it anyway.
I hate graffiti as well I mean who cares you can't even read what they are writing so whats the point.

We went to Long Bay today, and I made sure that we took a rubbish bag. It was absolutely no hassle whatsoever to cart the bag home with us and dump it in the bin when we got home.
While we were sitting at the beach I noticed a lady walk past with a bag of rubbish, and I remembered thinking gosh she's good. Went to the toilets to get changed, and what as in there? Her bag of rubbish! She'd left it there and gone back down to the beach! Unbelievable.
"pack in pack out" so simple.

Urgh thats disgusting! Some people have no brains and just dont care. Leaving dirty nappies is just foul, there are plenty of bins around to put them in, beaches always have bins around, other than that put them in a plasic bag and bin them at home.
One thing that pisses me off is when people chuck stuff out their car windows while you are following behind them! Man that REALLY gets my blood boiling, especially when they flick their smoke out the window and it hits my car! Im so scared its gonna fly through my window if I have it open. If they are gonna do that why dont they wait till there is no one behind them! Gosh
