Topic: How tired are you? Posted: 01 February 2010 at 7:01pm |
Ok, so this is going to sound like a real woe is me rant but its not really (honest)
Just lately in the last month or so I am just plain exhausted - and trying to figure out if that is normal or not.
I only have 1 child and I work 4 days a week, at a fairly intense sort of job.
Last week I was ill, then again at the weekend and today I didn't go to work after not really wanting to eat all day yesterday I just felt wiped out, so after being in bed from 8.30 - 6.30, I went back to bed at 8 until nearly 1!!!!! (ds at daycare today)
Can't say I feel much better for it.
So any tips/thoughts/harden up suggestions - its starting to get me down feeling rough all the time.

If it's all the time, maybe you're low in iron?? Just a thought . Otherwise maybe up your vitamin C and eat loads of veggies and fruit.
Hope you feel better soon! I've felt the same the last few days with a sore throat, it's not nice.

Not really any help but I would say the first thing you should do is get your iron levels checked.
I have low iron and just want to spend all day in bed and still feel tired after 5 hrs solid sleep. And working hard for just 2 hrs uses up all my energy. I am wiped out when I get home.

Thanks, maybe a check up is a good idea, I just don't seem to have energy to do anything, which then makes me grumpy
Do you have to see a Dr to get that checked or just the nurse do you knnow

But i agree it could be low iron. Best to go to the doctors

i agree with iron being a strong possibility. i found getting out of bed after i had DS really hard and for a week DH was doing all the night and morning feeds and i couldnt function. DS was 9 or 10 weeks old by this stage so it wasnt cos of him. when i got my levels checked they were 4 and below 20 is bad. lol. it takes about a week to perk up but you feel a million times better. if you pull down the bottom eye lid then often it is a wee bit on the whiter side if you are low :) hope thats all it is and you feel better soon :)

Could be iron (or pregnancy, lol)... it could also just be the after-effects of the virus you had last week. Sometimes these things take a while to leave your system properly, you might still be recovering.
If you are worried about your energy levels though, go see your Dr and get a blood test to rule stuff out like low iron.

And get B12 checked too.. it makes you tired also. Whenever I have a B12 injection I feel immediately more awake and alert

Are you due for AF I get so tired for a few days before AF (and starving lol). Also are you stressed or depressed that can show up as tiredness.
Hope you get it sorted soon

I would go to the doc and get them to check a few things out. 4 months after Sophia was born I went to doc cos I was so tired I just was not coping, was stressed out, depressed, tearful etc etc and my thyroid was not functioning properly. Only takes a blood test to check its function. I am on thyroid meds now and they are like magic pills! And ditto re getting your iron checked.
Really hope you feel better soon, it just gets you down feeling so crap.

it would pay to have your full bloods done...I got real sick when ella was about same age as your wee one....I was exhausted and for me who copes with IT ALL...I no longer could....bloods shocked me - turned out I had glandular fever...and it stopped me in my tracks literally! rule out things like that....and yes Iron top ups will help!
We try to be super mums - esp when you work as well...and sometimes our health goes by the way side...heck I think I even took her twice when I was sick to the doctor and told him I would come back when she was better to check me out!!!
