If you are setting up a full household on a budget you can buy cheap dinner sets, pots and pans etc from The Warehouse. They won't last forever but you can replace them as you can afford it with better quality stuff.

Our contents is for $65k but we upgraded pretty much all of our stuff when we got married 4 years ago (before then we had a house load of Warehouse stuff lol)

We're in the process of getting quotes for appliances and would recommend you take a trip to one of the Appliance Sheds (or other factory outlet). The savings from there are huge (even more if you buy seconds!). I had a bad experience with them this morning though as the staff are trolls to deal with

Our contents is insured for $65k but i still think you can kit a house out on $20k. Our insurance is so high because it covers my piano, jewellery carpet, curtains clothes etc as well as just furniture, crockery etc.
Did you allow for a PC on your list?

having seen people do it thru work I would say budget budget about $20,000 to nice but still not overly expensive about $60,000 for what you are thinking if to start from scratch.

also knew someone who lost it all in a fire and had to start like that and they got $45,000 which gave them some nice stuff and some basic but nothing from the likes of say freedom, or higher end stores
