This isn't witty but might give you an idea of how we worded ours (although it was a wishing well). I can't remember the wording, so I'll just try anyway.
To our friends and family: it is your presence, not your presents, we request on our wedding day. As you are aware, we have already set up house and as such do not need any housewares. If, however, you would like to contribute to a gift for us we will be having a wishing well at the reception. Envelopes will be provided if you wish to make an anonymous donation towards our honeymoon in Thailand. We look forward to sharing our memories with you on our return.
But I don't think that's what you're looking for anyway, but oh well!

I second SimSam's one - it's great if you want the quirky sort of one. Oh, I so want an island holiday now hehe

we wanted to do that but the parents thought it was rude - i didn't for the record. So we got the usual (although most apperciated and loved) We still got our honeymoon as I won a mystery trip 2 weeks before wedding Yay...
Good luck and i do like what simsam said too.

we did the same....put FC cards in with the invites but mum conned the girl at FC to go further...she set up a breakdown so people bought things like, our accomodation our rental car, ourdinner cruise, hampers, breakfasts etc...and some were vouchers from FC included with our itenarary and others were put by FC as cash onto our credit card. Mum paid for the flights and most of accomodation and park entry and whole honeymoon was a suprise to us....kept people like Minik8e guessing for yonks!!! People at flight centre did a great job and our guests totally got into it!

Am hoping ours will too! Where did you go? We are planning to got to Plantation island or Mana island, can't wait! I'm pleased it loks like lots of others have done the same. We just want to avoid the inevitable slew of mitre 10 vouchers (we have an account there, so If I want something, I just go and get it and "someone else" pays for it, lol) Platters (got 8 for engagement pressies even though we said no gifts) towels and sheets (replaced all just after Jake was born) and we are very fortuante enought to be able to afford to buy something if we want/need it. I know lots of people don't like it, especially older people, and we will still get some pressies, but thats cool. We jsut need a holiday, and all our spare money after the wedding is paid for is going towards a pool which we plan to put in for summer 2008 (woo hoo!!)

Hi ladies, it is a realy long time since I have posted on here - in fact it is pre "gremlins" being born! Although I have occassionally popped in to see what is happening - not that I expect anyone to go "ahhh yes I know you" (not). ANYWAY I am home from work today with Samuel as he is a little under the weather so thought I would pop on. We also used FC for our wedding and we had to pay for the holiday up front a few days before and then they deposited the money into our account. This was in Aussie and I am not sure if it was because we were off to Thailand about 4 days after the wedding. Also we didn't have the whole amount paid as it was about 5k and we only had 35 guests. But that may be worth a check with them. Congratulations on your new daughter and the wedding by the way fattartsrock!

I like Sim Sams one too. We are having a honeymoon/travel register. Everyone even my grandmother thinks its a great idea. So many of my mums wedding presents are still in the cupboard never use.
There are several ways of doing it, book the travel you want and then the money goes towards it, or see how much you get then book your holiday. Depends if you want to go straight away.
I am in need of a new passport so am waiting to get it issued in my married name, we are going to the UK in July which is 3 months after the wedding.
