Topic: McDonalds Parties Posted: 17 March 2007 at 6:56pm |
Has anyone had one of these for their child's party? If so could you answer these questions I have about them. As I think they have changed since the time I was the hostess doing the party. Thanks
- How much was it per child?
- What did you get for the charge?
- How long was the party?
- Did they kick you out of the party room after the official party time had ended?
- What activities did they have for the children?
- Did they do anything for the adults that were there?
- Anything else you would like to add?

I was a puree feeder, forward facing, cot sleeping, pram pushing kind of Mum... and my kids survived!

ok, have had one of these in the square mcd's for paris's 2nd birthday.
How much was it per child?
$10 per head for normal, $12 for disney themed.
What did you get for the charge?
party food, loot bags, hats, 1 game (i think it was pass the parcel, with something for each kid plus a pressie for the birthday kid
How long was the party? argh, angry over this - we booked the BIG room, specifically saw them write it in the book our numbers etc, when we booked in i think it was May, before i had Ayja, there were no other bookings that day at that point.. got there early, on her birthday and they tried to shovel all 30 of us into the littlest room there.. trying to tell us we had booked that (why would we book a ridiculously small room for that many of us?!). Mike did his usual and went a bit nuts.. in his demandingly polite way.. so we got into the big room, provided we start the party half an hour early (great except our guests weren't all there yet) but were rushed through and asked to leave after an hour and a half because the other people that had "booked" the big room were due to come. ARGH, so angry so fricken angry - we had to rush cutting the cake then all ushered out into the kids area, which being a saturday around lunch time - was noisy and full of big kids.
Did they kick you out of the party room after the official party time had ended? YES.. before
What activities did they have for the children? as above
Did they do anything for the adults that were there? nope,
Anything else you would like to add?
Have since booked the party room for ayja's 2nd to continue tradition (that and i can't mentally handle doing home parties 2 yrs in a row) - they have now changed it.. you can only have it at 2pm or 4pm, on saturday. is $12 a head for plain mcdonald theme - no longer do disney.
we'll see how it goes. won't take crap this time, last time i just was past it cos i had an 8 week old baby to contend with.

Emma had a McDonald's party for Maya's birthday last year, I think -- hopefully she will jump in here and tell you about it. She reckoned it was the best venue ever, especially because she didn't have to clean up!

Yep, we sure did! It cost us $10 per child, and for that they got a Happy Meal, an ice cream and a loot bag. They didn't do any games etc. but the party room was right by the playground so the kids were well entertained anyway.
They tried to stick us in the smallest party room too despite me having booked way early (am I sensing a theme here Janine?) but I have no tact and told them in no uncertain terms to fix it . So they put us in the bigger room and crammed a bigger group into the smaller room - soooo not my fault, when I booked we were given the choice of times and rooms coz they had no bookings at that stage so we obviously booked first.
I'd do it again, it was worth it just for the no-mess factor, and the fact that the kids could run riot. Maya had her party this year at Chipmunks which was along similar lines - I'm all for parties anywhere except home!
Ad it actually works out cheaper. Chipmunks cost me $140 for 8 kids plus coffees for all the adults and my lunch. McD's was $120 for 12 kids. Her first two birthdays I did myself cost me over $500 each by the time I did food for everyone, decorations, loot bags etc.

Obviously I have a while until I need to worry about these things, but I have been told by friends with kids that everytime their children go to Chipmunks or Lollipops they come home filthy and end up sick. Anyone else had similar experiences? I personally have a pet hate against ball-pits (oooohhh all those germs.....!! )

i have attended mcd's and chipmunks and lollipops parties - havent held any tho ... my boys have either had no party (toby for his 1st birthday) or low key cake and chippy things with the cousins.
i liked the lollipops one i went to last year for a boys 4th birthday but the party room was very small. they did cater for the grown ups too tho (prob at an extra charge but my friend said it wasnt that much).
mcdonalds at least the food is hot and you get a choice of drink...i wasnt too keen on the chipmunks drinks (sorry emma ) and i think the food was microwaved.
so if mcd's has a decent playground it would prob be good.

Nooo don't say that! I'm going to have a 3 year old soon!
I went to a McDs bday party recently, seemed to go okay, playground right near the room. The only prob is I have a *thing* against McD's so Ella won't be having one.. thought it would be mean if I didn't let her go to someone elses bday party though!
