Topic: Lunch Ideas Posted: 16 October 2008 at 1:57pm |
I'm getting bored of the same old things for lunch every day at home. I thought maybe we could all share a few of our favourite lunch ideas.
Sandwiches - my favourites are ham/egg/cheese/lettuce/tomato/mayo on molenberg and vintage cheese with sweet relish.
A special treat (like once a month) is vintage cheese/pickled onions/salt and vinegar chips on homemade french bread.... got it from a Jamie Oliver book and maaaaaaaaaan it is good!

What a great idea as I often struggle with ideas too & get sick of the same old things again & again.
One of my favourites is to cook up some couscous & add a small tin of flavoured tuna to it. Simple but very tasty.
Macaroni cheese with tuna added.
Avocado on toast.
Croissants with ham, lettuce, beetroot, tomato, lettuce & cheese.
Sandwiches with grated cheese, carrot, chopped celery & mayo. Yum!
And if I'm really short on time - noodles!
And hmmm, Jamie Oliver's sammy idea sounds surprisingly tasty . I might have to give it a go sometime.
Will look forward to other people's ideas.

I usually make extra for dinner and save some for lunch over the next few days for DH & me. Favs in our house are quiche, cottage pie, spag bol, teriyaki beef salad, vege or pumpkin soup and chicken burritos. Easy to heat up for lunch and we follow with fresh fruit salad, yum

my favs are tuna mayo, tomato & cheese toasted panini (i just use molenburg though!) - actually before I went dairy-free I'd chuck some cheese on pretty much any sandwich and toast it!!
- or multi-coloured pasta with tuna, mayo, tomato and corn all mixed up...

That Jamie Oliver idea does sound yum.
I'm not a big fan of sandwiches made ahead of time.
I've been having yoghurt, fruit and a muesli bar lately, great for weight loss.
I like that rizzoni pasta, its shaped like rice cooked up, have it cold with diced capsicum, sundried tomatoes and salad dressing and chopped ham.

I sometimes toast Garlic Pita Bread, one pita bread is enough to fill me up.
Yoghurt and fruit
Fruit Smoothie
Sandwiches
Pita Bread BLT with Garlic Mayo
Salami and salad
Peanut butter
Cheese and Onion toastie
Fruit is a big fave of mine, I have banana, orange and an apple everyday. Also a muesli bar.
Cheese and Crackers with a yummy chutney
Sometimes (Very rarely) I make scones and have a couple and then the kids have them for afternoon tea.
If all else fails I'll go and get a kebab from Dressmart

Yum food my favorite topic.
I have to take lunch to work now as DH reckons I spend too much money on food
So I take things like this:
Wraps with salad stuff, tuna, cottage cheese,
Muffins
fruit (fresh or tinned) and yoghurts
Crackers with cheese (cream, cottage or real) and tomatoes
Pasta salads
Couscous salad
Toasted cheese sandwiches (we have a sandwich press at work)
noodles
Vegemite and chip sandwiches YUM
I always take extra fruit and have some cup-a-soups as well for those 3pm hunger pains
When I buy lunch I usually have sushi which really adds up fast.

Salad (lettuce, tomatoes, capsicum, grated carrot) with tuna (in basil and onion sauce) is my fave at the mo. Or leftover dinners.

I've usually got wraps in the fridge which I make up with variations of feta, pastrami, hummus, avo, grated carrot, tomato etc.
My current favourite is roasted veggies with israeli couscous.
Sometimes leftovers, but they usually get snaffled by DH....
Pasta salad with tuna, peas, mayo & a boiled egg is really quick
