I worked in a Chinese restaurant in Levin, 3 or 4 nights a week, getting about $9 an hour which was fantastic in 1991!
Becks - I used to go out with one of Paddy's sons for about 4 years!

I was a letter-stuffer for $5 an hour (I was 10 so it was pretty good, and not taxed so even better!), sorted archived files out for $10 an hour (involved working in a shed covered in pigeon poo ) all for the same company I now work for in the evenings (better job and better pay though lol!)

My first job was at 7 years old working in my parents bookshop on a Saturday morning. Think I got $2 for the day and the rest ($10.00) was put in a special jar for holidays, special trips, buying gifts for peoples birthdays, christmas etc. Was always great fun at holiday times or Christmas as Mum would give you the money and you got to go shopping and had to work out what you were going to buy people for christmas etc or spend your money on when holiday .
Next main job was berry picking from the summer I was 10. Earn't about $10.00 on the first day and my big sister and i went and got our ears pierced with it.
Then from 12 had a phamplet delivery run and used this money to buy and keep a pony. Used to get up at 5am and do my phamplet run, see to my pony, go to school (or netball on the weekend), and then spend all of the rest of my free time with my pony.
Definitely taught my older sister and the value of money and budgeting and working for what you want. (Unfortunately my parents slipped up when it came to my younger sister who expects everything to be handed to her on a plate).
Edited as spelling is terrible today

I worked at the Agrodome as a "stage girl" which in reality was picking up sheep crap and dealing with some seriously stubborn rams for 14 hour shifts for $6.50 an hour

I think my first "real" job would have been at BK, lasted maybe four months or so until my granddad died. After that I worked at Paper Plus, which rocked! Did a bit of babysitting on and off though too, right through high school and uni.

Lucky you Claire. I really disliked Paddy, he just thought of us in Feilding as money and didn't actually care about us. We did make things a bit difficult for him thou . Think xmas party, open bar and not much food .

I was a puree feeder, forward facing, cot sleeping, pram pushing kind of Mum... and my kids survived!
