I am confused! Baby number 2 is on the way at the end of November, Lucy will be nearly 2, and was wanting your input and suggestions on what to get, either a double buggy, or an attachment that goes on the buggy like a skateboard or??!! We already have a 3 wheeled buggy and a stroller! Do I trade them all in or??

Sophie was 2y 8m, when I had Ephraim so a little bigger.  I just used my single buggy and my sling.  so if Ephraim was in the buggy Sophie walked, but most of the time the first few months I carried him in the sling.  Once he was big enough I used the back pack.  I found it made shopping a lot easier.  I could get a couple of things from the mall then go to the supermarket without worring about the buggy.  and having one on the back saved them fighting in the shopping trolley.  I still do that now.

I had planned to get a skateboard thing but never got around to it.  Hope its some help.  It really just depends on what works best for you.  Do you know someone with a double buggy?  See if you can borrow and see if it works for you.

Some single buggies can have a second seat attached. This way, they could both be in the buggy but it would still be narrow and easy to manouver

I was actually talking about this with my friend this afternoon. She had a couple of buggy's (from her 1st born) which she swapped for 2 different kinds of double strollers and she also trialed a few more from the Baby Factory. I said to her "I would've just used a comfortable front pack and a light stroller from 3+ months (like my MB terrain)? Older sibling would be walking before younger sibling is too old for front pack". She went through all of those buggy's before she ended up doing that!! Simple when it comes from someone else. Hard to know when you are doing it at your own end.

IMO, I wouldn't go with a double buggy unless you get something like the Phil and Teds coz the side by side ones are an absolute bugger to take anywhere, I had no choice with having twins, and it is my one pet peeve.

I think if I only had one newborn I'd be doing the sling/baby carrier thing too, I love my sling and haven't used it nearly enough coz it's hard with two of the little horrors.

I have a sling which I got s/hand off TradeMe for $25

But in answer to your original question, my Briona is almost 2 and we have a three wheeler buggy which we converted to 4 wheeler with toddler seat on the front. Trouble is that Briona is 12.6kg and the toddler seat takes up to 14kg (average 3yo, Hannah is 3 1/2 and 14.8kg). And it's getting a bit tricky to manouver her legs in and out of the toddler seat. Briona prefers to ride than walk, I guess it mostly depends how far you intend walking. I walk around the block each day so a double stroller is great. But if it was just for going up town, I use the sling and the older two walk - mostly so I have two hands free for crossing the road, and my buggy is far too heavy to take in/out the van all the time.

Money aside (which it never is LOL), my preference would be to have a sling for shopping, but a double stroller for walking longish distances (like around the block or to the park, where the baby can stay laying down in the stroller). But it would be nice to have a "cheap" fold-up double stroller that lives in the van too.
