     Topic: Low BP/Dizzyness     Posted: 09 January 2009 at 12:43pm |

I have low BP apparently and I'm taking maxolon which has the side effect of causing light headedness.

Is there anything I can do to bring my BP up and/or get rid of some of the dizzy spells I'm having?

Everytime I stand up whether it be slow or fast my head spins and theres been a few times where I've thought I might faint. I've never had low BP before so its weird

I've always had low BP and can easily get a faint/dizzy feeling. I find not getting too hungry helps, so maybe eat more often if you feel up to it

Drinking lots helps a bit too. I had it with both kids and actually fainted a few times with Ella. My midwives advised me to drink lots and lots of water and not to do anything strenuous if possible.
 Hope you feel better soon!

I've already divided lunch and dinner into 2 meals. If I eat much more often I'll be constantly eating lol

black licquous (sorry not thinking bout sp) im sure you will guess what I mean, also try snacking on dried fruit - eg sultanas, mango, pineapple maybe some nuts just have some make up like a scroggin, will help keep your energy up just not too much at a time to avoid the sugar high then drop, hopefully will get better for you soon, I was a bit the same for a while

Yep, food and rest is about all you can do. I had low BP especially around the 18-24 week mark and couldn't go on long drives to see my customers as I feel asleep at the wheel on the way back to Palmy from Ohakune. Very scary.

I hate water with a passion too. I have a squeezy bottle, lots of ice cubes, Roses lime juice and water. The lime makes it quite nice especially with the ice in this weather.

Milk is fine but I think you're only supposed to count 2 non-water drinks in your daily water intake. Just hope you don't get an intolerance to dairy lol.

I have low blood pressure too. I fainted in the shower at about 8 weeks because it was too hot, then the same day on the bus I fainted again when I was standing in the aisle, it was very crowded and I couldn't get any air. Now I have cooler showers which must help because I haven't fainted since then (still have low BP though).

I also have low BP and have found the dizzy/faint feeling much worse in my 2nd trimester. Haven't fainted (yet) but there have been a couple of close calls
I second just the regular eating thing, lots of fluid ((sorry that probably does mean water!) and you could also try either iron pills and/or food naturally high in iron...dried apricots etc?
Good luck dealing with it cos it's not a nice feeling!

I was always told that dried apricots were high in Iron. I had a look and it turns out they're not. I was a bit disappointed as I used to much on them all the time!

I'm going to get some flurodix hopefully over the weekend to deal with the iron thing. I'm a vego so chronically lowish in iron, doesn't seem to matter what I eat I've always had this problem but flurodix works wonders (pity its expensive lol)

Hopefully my BP will come up over time because it totally sucks ass. I didn't have this problem with Daniel and it makes running after him and interesting experience sometimes!
