Does anyone use these anymore? I got given a lot of flannelette nappies and was thinking of using them as nappies while I'm at home.My MIL also gave me some fluffies.
I do want to get MCN's at some stage, so have been researching a lot and will start buying them slowly.
Also with the flannelette nappies can you use the SNAPPI nappy fasteners...do they stick ok? (prob a very silly question!)or do you have to use pins??

i have and use flats... a snappy is no good with them...but i just used a pinless fold cause modern pins just dont seem to do the trick!

Would you have to use the towelling type nappies with a snappi?
oooh, a pinless fold! is there a website where I can see how to do that? MIL has shown me a few different folding styles, but no pinless ones!

I used them for a bit with Ella and found them ok. Just not as efficient as mcns! I didn't like having to pin them either, especially once she got wriggly and impatient with changing times, I was always scared of sticking her.
I use them now for stuffing my mcns and they make great change mats/playmats/burp cloths/spew catchers/boobie leak stoppers....

I would use cloth flats, but not fluffies (other than maybe the nb stage) investing in a few good basic PUL covers shouldn't cost that much, and will save you alot of headaches in regards to leaks, wet bedding/clothes etc. There's a pinless fold, but would only really work on an immobile baby.
Towelling flats do work with snappies, because they can grip onto the fabric

I had Jack in them when he was a newborn. The midwives at the hospital showed me how to fold them and I never used pins, just folded it and then put a cover over top. It works fine for when they aren't moving much. You could then use then as inserts for pockets?

Oh yes they make great inserts for pockets if you get thsoe when bubs is bigger

I used flats and pins on Maya from 8 weeks till she TT at 22 mths, and for the first 6 or so weeks with the gremlins, and I agree, a decent cover is what makes them work well! I didn't find pins too much of an issue, altho given how wriggly the gremlins are now I have no idea how I managed to get pins into Maya's nappies when she was this age.
Now I use flats as inserts, in fact they're the only inserts I use as my nanny couldn't seem to figure out how to pair up microfibre/hemp/bamboo inserts so they worked, so flats are just easier, and equally as absorbent IMO.
