Sick Man In The House Support Group can meet hourly, daily, monthly, yearly if needed

For the past 4 days I have had a really bad tummy bag, vomitting and the rest . I still had to carry on being a mother, still had to entertain the kids, feed them, bath the little one, do washing, and of course be happy. I did all of this in between running to the toilet, and trying to doze on the couch. I have been exhausted and haven't really been sleeping all that well either, can't remember the last time I had at least 8hrs sleep!.

Anyway. Last night at midnight the DH gets up and vomits and had a wee sit down on the loo, firstly I'm thinking SHUT THE DAMN DOOR! Then I'm thinking oh he's got the tummy bug. Roll over and go back to sleep (very caring wife here).

I need to add that I was up at midnight to a screaming boy who would not settle until I took his socks off! Then up again at 4 because he got all wonky in the cot. Gave him a bottle and he went back to sleep. So I'm a little tired too you know!!!

Fast forward to this morning, I'm in the kitchen making my first coffee. From behind me I hear this "Hello" turn around and there he is bent over and walking out of the bathroom. Convo goes something like this

DH: I know why I wasn't feeling so good last night
Me: Why
DH: I threw up 3 times last night and I had No2's too
Me: Yeah I heard, thanks for shutting the door
DH: Hmmmph walks out of the room

He then went to get into our bed and watch TV, I said no you can't do that, Cooper will be going back to bed soon. Still bent over he says "why are you being so snappy at me" I'm not I'm just stating fact! (Ok so now he's turning all precious on me!) So right now he's on the couch under MY blankey moaning because he doesn't want to watch Rachael Ray and doesn't like that I don't surf between the ads! WTF!? So my day is basically screwed!

Ok vent over, please feel free to add your SMITH stories and we'll support each other as we do in our time of need!

Feeling your pain!!! I also had the bum wees and varminting over the weekend, and I still had to be mum. Granted, I got to shut the bedroom door till 9.30am, I was trying to isolate myself to prevent spread, but the kids cryed, screamed and hammered at the door form 7am while daddy layed on the couch watching rugby replays and reading the paper.

When Daddy gets sick, he insists I shut the hall door to keep them away from our room (they never want him anyhow) and I take them out most of the day if I can to keep the house quiet...

Blardy men.

Grrrr men!

Last night Daniel was crying from wind pain at 10pm, I got him settled and popped him down and went back to bed myself as I was shattered. DH makes a loud noise which ruins all the hard work of settling Daniel. Then leaves Daniel screaming and comes to bed and says hes tired as hell.

wtf?!?!

I really wanted to slap him!

Ooo We had the same bug around Christmas. We both had been in the hospital with Jack so had no sleep, get home Ben goes to sleep but I have to entertain Caprece and clean up Jack every time he was sick. The next day Ben, Caprece and I got the tummy bug as well, Ben spends the day on the couch asleep while I have to clean up the kids, breastfeed Caprece and everything else in between my spews. Ben then goes on to say he has it so much worse than me because he can't do anything

This was exactly the same in our house yesterday!
Seems this is a tummy bug going around. I was fine in the morning went out with the Pepsi family, by the time we got home I felt like death warmed up! Asked DH to look after Caitlin so I could have a lie down, not 5 minutes later "Muuummmm" (think teenager bellowing from one end of the house to the other, she no longer calls me Mummy ), she goes in and out of every room looking for me "MUUUUUUMMMM". I go looking for DH to see why she's looking for me and not happily playing with him..... he's watching the flaming rugby and left her alone with her crayons in the playroom which is now has the bottom 3 feet of the walls redorated

I threw the cleaning stuff at him and went back to bed.

I'm dreading him getting this bug

Its times like these that I don't have a man in the house!!!!

I was a puree feeder, forward facing, cot sleeping, pram pushing kind of Mum... and my kids survived!

In our house it's usually the opposite... but then Mike never gets anything as badly as I get it!

Example: He has a sore stomach, and feels a little tired for 2 days, I end up with vomiting and diarrhea for at least twice as long.

Or he'll get a runny nose, and I'll get hit with sore throat, swollen lymph nodes (throat) and a nasty cough and killer headache.

Hehe I know exactly how you feel .Mel!! AFter suffering through a long week last week of having a baby with "the bug" I was woken at 3am this morning to hear that DH has the same bug...! Yay

So my little boy is finally feeling better, if a bit tired and grizzly and my BIG boy is moaning and groaning in our bed... I have just run him a bath as he is achy, and have been making sure he has water etc to try and make him feel better... and disinfecting the toilet so that I can try and avoid being the next one with it!!

Oh god, this is all to familiar.. but it's not normally sickness as he doesn't get sick.. its usually something else...

Like while I was pregnant with Keziah, he claimed to be tired when I know damned well he slept well the night before because I was WIDE awake (bubba was most active at night in utero) while he snored on and was totally oblivious to the fact that I hadn't slept more than 2 winks!

And then the other night, he said he'd get upto Keziah if she woke up screaming.. then this all happened and he slept through the whole thing! And what makes matters worse, is when I asked him if he'd heard her screaming blue murder he claims NO, I was faaaast asleep!! Arrogant sh*t

I lost the plot at him, Cooper was in bed, and I washed the dishes folded the washing, tidied up and he just laid there. I went over to him and said, you've got a sore stomach, your hands, feet and head are fine. Help me tidy up the house!!! He got up and cleaned the electric frying pan, and went and sat back down on the couch! OMFG!

Big hugs from over here! I had a sick man of my own a few weeks ago and am still recovering from the trauma of the experience. Not to mention still trying to catch up with the work I missed while he was monopolising my work space to watch Dr Phil...

Ooh, let me join in.... kinda....

I was REALLY sick a couple of weeks ago, varminting, diahorrea etc - even woke up in the middle of the night actually vomiting in my sleep

Really sick, plus had a cold on top of it, chills, aches, and really shaky too.

But still - went to work, looked after Joshie, cooked dinner etc.

THEN, about two days after I was feeling better, DP commented on something I'd forgotten to do - and his comment was " I know you were a little bit sick" but you could have made the effort! A LITTLE BIT SICK????

When he's sick he takes days off work and spends 5 days whinging about a blimmin cold!

Grrrrr, Men.

Haha I'm an evil b7tch, decided I had to get out of the house, so went over to Toy World and put some money on a layby, then decided to walk down to Baby Factory to get a couple of things I wanted. Went up to the counter to pay and discovered that my card wasn't in my wallet! He had it.

So I called him and made him come down with the card and take us back home. He's had an amazing recovery, he's quite happily playing xbox while I should be watching Oprah!
