 Topic: Wool singlets?

To bother or not to bother? Maya never had them, I got her some cotton-wool blend ones from Target in Australia but have never seen any like that here and don't know whether the gremlins will be warm enough in plain cotton ones or whether to get some of the wool ones.
I know it sounds like a stupid question but they are sooooo expensive! And I have to get DOUBLE of everything!

I had some and used them every day with Ella when she was little.. now I just use polyprops.

I've bought some for Gina and love them. They are so nice and soft and much easier to put on - I struggle to put on the cotton ones without her crying

I think the ones at the Red Shed are Teeny Weeny brand? Not too expensive either... and I have a friend that can dye them in scrummy colours too

wool ones are cool, but not essential.
baby factory have 30% off wool interlock infantino brand singlets at the mo (with their email newsletter) so they might be the go. otherwise i used to just use bodysuits as an extra layer.

Oooh might have a look there then. I've seen them in farmers for about $15 each and when you consider that I'd need 3 for each baby (at least) it starts getting pricey.

i used cotton/ wool blend for haleigh, we jsut got ours form the warehouse. i do have some wool ones but they were so bulky i never used them, but might since number 2 will be born over winter

I got given some wool ones for Ella and they were fantastically warm. Once she grew out of them though, I just layered her up with thermals from postie plus and cotton bodysuits.

If they are prone to allergies I would be cautious about wool myself.

Good point. Altho they have coped OK with the Ecobubs wool pocket nappies.

They aren't necessary, just layer up whatever else you want to use. I was going to add the allergic factor as well. I get heat rash (excema) from woollen singlets

I used them with the older two, but I'm not going to bother for Xavier. He has enough padding already! plus he's quite a hot boy and doesn't feel the cold the way the others did.
I never used to put the wool singlet directly against the child's skin, I would always put a cotton one on first... don't know why now!

I use them over cotton singlets I think they are great and they are really stretchy so Jacks ones last year will fit him this year. I went to save mart and got a whole heap for about $3 each sure they are second hand but most of them are really nice hand knitted stuff.

Charlotte lived in them and still does! I like using natural fibres especialy on babies- with the Dr Sprotts system he recommends you dress them in wool or cotton when they sleep anyway so thats why we started. I got mine from baby factory- they also do wool/cotton blend ones as well.

We have the infantino ones from baby factory - I like them because they are so thin but warm, you dont need to bundle them up in lots of layers. I have always just used them next to her skin with no problems, these ones are so soft.
