 OK I was told that by a person at SL so long as you are studying fulltime (to SL by EFT's) and you have "dependants" you should be able to get an allowance It was only $70 I was getting on the allowance but still $70 is better than nothing. Also the budget that came out yesterday had some more stuff in it about helping people to get allowances. 
 I'm not getting it next semester as I don't want it to impact on our family assistance (or whatever they call it now) payments as we get quite a bit from them but it's something I might look at getting next year. | 
i hate student loans all my recent dealings with them have been bad bad bad.
however a student allowance doesnt affect your working for families stuff,  its only your earnings ( from work 20hrs if your a solo parent or 30hrs between you if your a coupple)
found that out the other day when we got told were not entitled to  anything from working for families grrr so im definatly keen for the working from home thing.
