Our whole house has a vomiting and diarhhoea bug at the moment. Jack got it not last night but the night before and ended up in hospital because he wasn't holding anything down. Hes ok now but still spewing up at bit. Anyway this morning me and Ben woke up with it and now Caprece has it too. I've been breastfeeding her and giving her water as well but at what point do I take her to the doctor? She has only thrown up twice and is still throwing up milk (not bile) so I assume shes getting some fluid in. The thing is I don't want to take her in until I need to since I've got it too I don't fancy sitting in the doctors while they do nothing I couldn't do at home.
Also I've lost my phone book and don't know where to go looking for the drs phone number so if anyone has any free time could they please find the number for The Clinic in Christchurch down Glocester St. TIA

   Here you go:
 The Clinic
 Dr Mike Foster
 192 Gloucester St Christchurch     0-3-366 3581
Just go to www.whitepages.co.nz to find any number in NZ I don't know when you should take her in, are you able to speak to a nurse if you ring that number? I always find healthline hopeless if I've rung them in the past.. hope you're all feeling better soon!

   Rach, that sucks!
This is what it says on the back of the well child book for when to take them to the doctor:

 if bubs has:
 -green vomit
-vomited at least half the feed after each of the last 3 feeds
 -vomiting and diarrhoea together
 -drinking less that usual
 -less wet nappies

i hope you are feeling ok too, not nice when yoau re all down with it but you still ahve to look after your bubbas!
-more than a tiny spot of blood in the nappy

 HTH!

The first thing they will do in hospital is rehydration therapy which you can do at home, the ratio is 5ml of pedialyte per minute by syringe. If she keeps that down she should be ok, even if the diarrohea continues, cos she's getting enough fluid in. If she's not keeping that down then you need to go to hospital.

To tell if dehydrated, pinch her wrist or ankle and if it stays wrinkly/crinkly and doesn't spring straight back, then need to see dr. Also looking at her eys, if they get too sunken in then dehydration.
Just little sips of water about every 10mins.

Thanks everyone I didn't get the chance to come back on here but my Mil is a nurse so she came around. I'm better but Jack is still vomiting nearly 48 hours later poor thing. Caprece only chucked about 5 times and hasn't for a while and is still happy as so I think shes ok.
Of course Ben had it worst and never mind that I had to breastfeed and try not to spew, his was worse |

I pretty much had Healthline on speed dial for Charlottes first year- they're great for answering questions like this (for future reference) |
