Dancing Baby??

My 9mth old rocks whenever music is played or if I say "dance". I thought she just liked music. She has also started doing it if I turn the blender or hairdryer on + she now also does this funny humming like squealing thing and rocks then too! DH thinks she is singing. Does this sound ok to you? She smiles and interacts with me while she rocks so it's not like she is zoning out or anything.

She is a really grizzly baby...really REALLY irritable so I'm a little freaked about neurological things (also, she doesn't roll or crawl yet either).

Any one elses babies dance in this way?

Caitlin stands up at the TV (p.s GRRR!) watches C4 and "rocks" her bum and squeals. We tell her "aww bubba, beautiful singing" and she claps

I can understand why you would be concerned but they do some really "weird" stuff. Caitlin holds her shoes up to her cheek and goes "awwww" (does the same with her teddy and toast )

One question - have you had your wee girl checked out? It seems to be that you may be a bit concerned about her development?

With regards to the rolling/crawling, Hannah only ever rolled a couple of times wwhen she was about 7 months and that was it. Crawled and walked the same week at 11 months.

Oh phew, that is all great to hear. And yeap, we've seen docs and paeds. Going to another paed next week and our request just to be sure. They agree that it is not normal for a baby to grizzle as much as she does + she is often so tense that she still holds her fists clenched much of time. They generally say that she seems fine BUT that we won't really know for sure until she is older as things like Autism Spectrum Disorders (not that she has autism) can't be diagnosed until later. All we know is that she way more irritable and tense than other babies but perhap she is just sensitive.

Glad someone agrees re: the tenseness and grizzling! Everyone just tells me not to worry.

Fiona, I would just keep stamping my feet and asking to get her checked by all that will listen. You know in your heart that something is not "right" and that is THE most IMPORTANT

Piper loves to dance as well, she is so funny she has this pelvic thrust thing going on and she sways from side to side waving her arms

Elle was on a good dose of losec for suspected reflux but it made no difference to her so the doc said it wasn't reflux. I used to hear her silent refluxing heaps and now she spills all the time.

Yup - going to see a paed again next Wed so hopefully if there is anything to find he will find it. Also seeing a cranial osteopath each week.
