I just had a bun filled with mock cream - it tasted OK but now I'm not feeling too good. I'm not sure if mock cream is OK to eat while pregnant - does anyone know?

It's one of those "best to stay clear" issues, do you know how fresh it was as that is the biggest factor.

It says they were packed today on the box - use by date 12-Sep.

I would say not. I worked in a Foodtown Bakery Dept when at school and the mock cream was just kept in this big barrel with a lid for AGES. You would just go scoop some out whenever you needed it So yeah it may have been packed today but the cream wouldn't be fresh!

You'll probably be ok but I'd avoid them from now on for at least the first trimester. If you're still feeling sick in the morning you might want to call your mw but there's probably nothing that can be done anyway. I don't know if there is any merit in it but I'd be having a sandwich and skulling a bit of water to hopefully dilute/flush it through your system.

i ate custard squares for the first month and then found out that you arnt meant too. Also lived on cream donuts the whole 9months as that was the only thing i could keep down. Made sure it was realy cream and a place i could trust though.

I'd steer clear too, but that said there are on average only 2-5 cases of listeriosis notified to Public Health each year so the chances of getting it are very slim. I was a paranoid nutter that ate almost nothing except toast while I was pregnant, but listeria wasn't even a consideration until a woman lost her twins at term a few years ago and a lot of people don't bother with following the eating do's and don'ts.

Hmmm, I didn't even think about mock cream being dodgy! I've been scoffing down cream buns this last week. Mind you, if I can eat it and it doesn't make me sick (like everything else seems to - yay IBS!) then I don't care too much.
