Ok I am a scrapbook virgin but I know there are a lot of you who know quite a bit about this.
i am wanting to make an album for my baby but I dont really like any of the premade ones that are out there so I thought I would make my own.
It was starting to sound to me like this might be scrapbooking. If so....Where do I start? Where do you get things from? Whatdo you need?

I don't do scrap booking but I know that art supplies stores sell scrapbook kits. The art shop on Manchester st would sell them and the one by the Caltex on Riccarton road do too sorry I don't know the names of them maybe even Whitcoulls etc.

Go to a scrapbooking shop and see if they hold class nights, they often have a "free" (you pay for what you use) beginners nights. It is VERy easy to get hooked!! Good luck!

There is a scrapbooking shop on Riccarton Rd. The top end by Harakeke st. They do classes and stuff and have heaps of cool paper. The lady in there is really lovely also!

I did a scrapbook album for Matthew's first year. It takes forever but looks really cool. Spotlight is really good for getting scrapbooking stuff from & some Warehouse stationery's are as well. Spotlight have packs with the album, pages & stickers in Anne Geddes, Winnie the Pooh etc designs.

Yeah, Warehouse is great...
I'm a scrapbooking and craft junkie... I spent a whopping $250+ at the Warehouse in the craft section alone doing a top up shop... So yes, they do have quite a lot - Warehouse Stationary do too...
The trick with scrapbooking is to keep a really open mind though, you'll find that if you have a really specific idea, it generally won't happen seeing as you're so focused on making sure it's perfect - You'll find (as cliched as it sounds) that a lot of the beauty in handmade stuff like that, is in it's imperfections.
Look out for all different types of media too (media being materials) even if you just a buy a pack of stickers or something on a whim every now and then - Sooner or later you'll end up with a whole treasure trove full of goodies that you'll be spoilt for choice! Thus making your scrapbooking experience much more enjoyable.

If you dont want to spend heaps and do lots of mucking aroun with paper and stickers trying to get it to look right, and all your photos and digital......
Why not digital scrpabooking. Play around with the elemnts on the computer, then print them out once you are happy....

Ohhh I love scrapbooking, I havent done it for ages as its one of those thing you need at least 2hrs minimum to sit down and get into it...Well I do anyway. Goodluck with your scrapbooking nzpiper

i have some wedding scrapbooking stuff on trade me for sale....who was my aunt thinking of when she sent me like 5 lots of scrapbooking stuff a year after my wedding.I asked for one --one around time of wedding and i havent even done that let alone FIVE!!!!
i too think digi ones may be the way to go...thanks for that site - my overseas friends are really into it online and it does look cool!

yes, digi could be more my style...I am inherently lazy!!! so I could see that if I was cutting and sticking I would get half way through and never finish it and leave a mess everywhere...hence I am very cautiuos about getting into this
But I guess I only want to do partial scrapbooking....I want a nice baby album and I dont like the premade ones so I want toget something nice and plain and do itmyslef.
